June 2022 Coffee Chat

Hello everyone! Today, I’m sharing my June coffee chat!

I love starting the month with a general catch up on my life, as if we were two friends meeting up for coffee. Now, it is a tad weird as these convos are generally one-sided, so leave me a comment on what you would tell me if we were catching up over coffee please! Today, I’m enjoying a nice iced chai. Perfect for a warm spring morning!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, how much fun I had completing BirthMay! Every May I blog every day for a month and I greatly enjoy that challenge. Now that it’s over, I’m excited to dedicate more time to other hobbies again, since blogging every single day is a time-intensive endeavor, but it’s still such a great time. I do think I could have done more reflection pieces throughout the month, so I’ll leave a note for myself for next year!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, an about a lovely get-together I had with some friends. I met them both through my old employer and we’ve kept touch as we’re all in the midwest so one of them hosted us at her home. We had a great time catching up on our lives, planning birthday extravaganzas, and just having fun! At one point I was fully ready to start a party/event planning company just to plan a friend’s party two years from now. Honestly, having made lasting friendships at my old workplace is such a lovely experience and while not everyone is still in the area, it’s nice to see those that I can and catch up from time to time!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, all about my bookstagram! I recently started a bookstagram account (linked there) and it’s been a ton of fun! Am I great at interacting with other accounts? No, I’ll admit I do enjoy creating content a ton more than I enjoy consuming it, so I often post and then forget to check how the post is doing. Whoops! But it’s a ton of fun nonetheless. I am posting all the books I have read thus far in 2022 and am almost through all the books I read in February, so we’re making progress! I do find that it’s harder to say what I don’t like about the books, since one of the authors for one of the books I read liked a post and now I’m worried I’ll offend an author! As a writer myself, I want to be kind, even if I didn’t love the book but I also want to be honest! What a difficult thing that is to balance.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, I’ve started going to open houses! My plan is to buy a home within the next 5 years, but it has to be the perfect home. I am still considering anywhere in the USA pretty much, but have gone to local open houses to just see what I like and what I don’t, and to try to narrow down what I want. I might honestly just end up buying my parents’ home but my issue with that is that it’s such a big house in a high tax area, so while I love it, I think it’s just too much of everything for me! It’s just my dog and me at the end of the day. But, as I said, I am planning to wait 5 years or so to buy, so there’s time to think about it.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, I’m so close to meeting my reading goal for the year already! At the time of writing this, I’m sitting at a total of 62 books read out of my goal of 65. Wow! I do tend to slow down my reading in the summer, as there’s more to do outside the house with nicer weather in the midwest, but even so I didn’t really expect to reach my goal this early on! I do still have a ton of books to read that the library wants back soon, so I’ll have to hustle to get those done and I’m sure I’ll reach my goal in June!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, about how work is going! That is always a topic of conversation after all. We have a new team member and she’s been a delight! We’re all helping with the training, catching back up from out busy spring, and revamping our processes as we go into a calmer summer season. I also have a few days off scattered through the summer just because I have to use up some time off (actually, I took off the Friday before Memorial Day so I enjoyed a whole four day weekend) and a week off in August, so I’m really looking forward to that!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, all about my dog, Foxy! He’s been a great boy recently. He and I have went for a nice long walk each day during my four day Memorial Day weekend and he loved it! He also finally learned “paw” which was honestly a miracle because he absolutely hated it when his paw was touched, but now he seems to mind it less. He’s a good student! One not so great thing though was that he got an ear infection! We got some medicine for him and he was so good the first three days that he had to have his medicine, then absolutely refused after that. I had to take him back to the vet and they said it looked like he got enough medicine to heal up his ears but I still have to go back again to check later and make sure he’s okay… Oh Foxy!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, I met my monthly challenge for May! Since it was posting a blog post every day, I thought it might be cheating as I already knew I could do it, but even so it was a lot of work. I’m glad I stuck to it and I had a great time!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, all about my new goal to create inspiration for myself. I think a lot of changes I’m working towards right now is really helping me reach this goal. I do feel like I can create more easily, everything from posts for my bookstagram or blog, to writing new stories, to filling up my bujo! I do find myself wishing I had more adventures often, so I’m setting up a way to ensure adventures are had, and that’s honestly such a great feeling!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you, all about my yearly goal of again, but better. I do feel that this summer is going to be a great opportunity to work on this goal. I feel like this is the first summer “post” the pandemic, as last summer there still wasn’t a ton going on. Now things are feeling a lot more normal, I already have a ton more plans, and I’m so excited to have a great summer.

So that’s what I would tell you if we were chatting over a coffee! Let me know what you would tell me, I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading!
