Hello everyone! Welcome back to BirthMay 2022! Today’s post is an update to my monthly challenges!
In case you’re new, every May I blog every day and call it BirthMay! Why? Because it’s my birth month and I’m super extra.
As the title says, April’s challenge was to drink more water and May’s challenge is to blog every day! Now, May’s challenge seems like a cop out because I do BirthMay every year, this is year 6 after all! But, the challenge is still a challenge every year, so I figured it was better to make it my goal than to try to do another goal on top of it and overcommit to too many goals!
April’s Monthly Challenge – Drink More Water
It’s always funny to type it as “goodbye” in the title as I don’t intend to stop drinking water after all! I just intend to not focus on it as much anymore. So my goal was to drink three of my 32oz Starbucks cups a day of water. I managed about a 50/50 split on days when I met this and days when I didn’t. Somehow though, I’m don’t think I did badly. Most days I did manage at least two of those 32oz cups, so at least 64oz a day! That was still more than I had been drinking so that’s why I consider it a win. Back in March it did feel like I was drinking less than 1, so being able to get that up a bit was amazing. There was also zero days when I didn’t even drink one cup, and I’m sure in March there were a few!
While it seems like it’s cheating to say that I did meet this goal even though I didn’t hit the benchmarks, the spirit of the goal was to drink more water in general, which I did do. Success! (Kind of!)
May’s Monthly Challenge – Daily Blogging
Well, as I mentioned, I do this BirthMay challenge every year. Does it really count if I already know I can do it? But is knowing I can do it a good enough substitute for actually doing it? These are the types of questions I should have already asked myself, but alas, I did not and here we are.
I did decide to go along with this goal anyway, since it is still a challenge to complete! Although, I am writing some of these posts ahead of time, so that could count as cheating. You know what, I’m worrying about these made up rules too much. I’m going to go with I have to post every day and that’s it!
I always use BirthMay as a way to reinvigorate my passion for blogging, trying out new blog posts, adding new reflection posts onto my blog, and just checking in with myself. This year I’m the most prepared I’ve ever been for BirthMay, having had over half the posts already completed before the start of the month, and having mostly filled out the calendar two months in advance. Practice makes perfect! Overall, I do enjoy BirthMay, even if it is a huge undertaking, and I am so glad it’s that time of year again!
So that’s my update on my monthly goals! It’s pretty straight forward honestly. Now I have to find a goal for June! Feel free to leave suggestions below!
