Hello everyone! Today, I wanted to share my updates on my hobbies and fun activities!

This month has been pretty lowkey, I think the winter and the polar vortex stuff really affected me this month so I didn’t feel like doing much of anything! But here’s what I have been up to.
My Lively
Creative Fun
Bujo
I wasn’t really feeling my bujo this month honestly… I still love it but I felt like I was forcing myself to fill it out at times. I didn’t even do any cute but poorly done drawing for the theme because I simply didn’t feel like it until yesterday. Also because I’m really bad at drawing and I didn’t want to ruin the page so there you go. But I did draw something eventually and I did keep up with it so that’s great!
Entertainment
Books
As always, I’m listing all the books I’ve finished since the previous Lively post below with their star ratings. All thoughts on them are saved for future (or even past!) Mini Book Review posts but those will be linked below if so. I won’t include any books that I didn’t finish although I’ll be sure to add them into the review posts.
This month I read 6 books.
- A Heart so Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer
- We Are the Wildcats by Siobhan Vivian
- Roar by Cora Carmack
- Rage by Cora Carmack
- Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham
- Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick
Movies
This month a lot of “movies” that I watched were actually comedy specials on Netflix. I started with Cristela Alonzo’s Lower Classy. I follow Alonzo on Twitter and so this has been on my list to watch for a long time. I’m so glad I finally did watch it! It was so funny and super relatable. Even the parts that I couldn’t relate to were super funny though. I just couldn’t stop laughing and I really enjoyed the Hispanic themes that popped up throughout the entire thing.
After I was done with that special, I wasn’t done laughing so I moved onto Iliza Shlesinger’s Unveiled. Shlesinger did this performance after her wedding and so it heavily featured her hilarious thoughts on several wedding traditions. I absolutely loved it and although I’ve never been married, I totally felt like I understood her completely. I always enjoy her comedy, so I knew I was bound to love it!
Then I continued with one more comedy special, Katherine Ryan’s Glitter Room. I wasn’t familiar with Ryan before this so I think I probably added this one after seeing a tiktok or something. Ryan talked a lot about raising a daughter as a single mom in England, after moving there from Canada. I am not from Canada, do not have a daughter, or have moved to England but it was so funny that I enjoyed it greatly anyway! She was hilarious and I really enjoyed watching her show.
TV Shows
I was super good at watching shows this month! As I mentioned in a recent post, I finished Gilmore Girls! (On Netflix.) I think I started it back in December and only got a few episodes in at the time. It’s not that I didn’t like it, it’s just that I wasn’t as super invested and so it took me awhile to get back to it. But once I got back in, oh boy I was in. As in, I was looking up if Stars Hollow was a real place because I was so ready to pick up and move! I won’t go on too much about the show because I talked so much about it in that post, but I loved it and Lorelei is the person I wish I was. (In reality I’m more of a Rory – as she was as a teen.) Oh, I did watch the revival that I’ve since realized is super controversial. I will say that because I watched the original series now instead of as a teen, I don’t think I was that offended by those story lines since they felt like a more realistic story rather than an idyllic one. I do think I would have preferred a much happier ending but I wasn’t super mad about the revival.
I also finished The Queen’s Gambit this month on Netflix. I also talked about this one in a recent post. I did enjoy it and I loved the aesthetic of it. It wasn’t my favorite show ever but I can totally see the hype around it. I still know absolutely nothing about chess though.
The last show I talked about in that aforementioned post was On Pointe, the ballet school documentary on Disney+. Basically my thoughts are that it was so beautifully shot and so inspiring. I really wish I had a more robust dance school near me that would offer more adult dance classes for me to take to get really good because I was that inspired by the little kids dedicating so much for dance.
I continued on watching Madam Secretary. I think I’m about halfway or a little more through season 4 now. It’s absolutely the type of show that is just a tad too stressful to watch more than an episode or two at a time. But I do really enjoy it and I love the characters still!
I started watching The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show after watching the special I mentioned earlier. I don’t like it as much as I like Shlesinger’s specials when they’re just her but some of these are super funny too!
I finally finished the first season on Netflix of The Great British Baking Show (season 5 of the show overall, but the first four aren’t available on Netflix). I really enjoyed watching that season, it was so fun! I haven’t been baking recently but I was super inspired to look up recipes again and I might try something new soon. I started season 2 too.
After finishing Gilmore Girls I figured I should watch another show that I missed out on when it originally aired. I found Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Hulu since apparently it was taken off Netflix years ago (although I could have sworn I saw it on my list over there recently???). I actually did try to watch this show when it was airing but I never had a tv in my room and my parents didn’t want me watching supernatural related stuff too often so I only saw sporadic episodes. I’m only a couple episodes in now, and it’s all brand new to me since I don’t think I’ve seen the early stuff! I think the acting is a little cringe and over-the-top to be honest, but it’s interesting enough for me to keep watching.
Musicals & Concerts
I watched all of Hamilton on Disney+ again this month. Why? Because I just wanted to! I think I’m getting obsessed with the show again.
I followed that up with folklore: the long pond sessions on Disney+ too. I just wanted to listen to the music and Taylor Swift’s descriptions of each again now that I’m better acquainted with the music. I really think that I under appreciated “My Tears Ricochet” previously.
Music
Oh, I have to mention “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)”! I always loved that song, as did everyone, so I was thrilled when Taylor released it as the first rerecorded piece of her music. I haven’t stopped listening to it and I adore it. I can’t wait for the entire new Fearless album!
Otherwise I’ve been continuously listening to folklore and evermore too.
YouTube
I mentioned Isabel Paige’s vlogs before, last month I believe, and she recently featured her travel’s with Hannah Lee Duggan‘s vlogs. Hannah and Isabel did a bit of travelling in Hannah’s van, but the vlogs that I’ve been mainly watching of hers is in Hannah’s cabin. Like Isabel, Hannah also has a small cabin and up until about a month ago she was living in it after doing some renovations. I don’t really care much for the van life vlogs right now (crazy since I was super into them a year or so ago), but I love the tiny house/cabin in the woods vibes so I’ve been watching Hannah’s older stuff. Honestly, both Hannah and Isabel complain way too often for me to watch long term so I don’t know if I’ll be watching them too much longer.
Podcasts
I found a new podcast on TikTok called Ladies & Tangents. They recently started sharing videos of their podcast and now they do video versions on YouTube. I absolutely love them! I think the two women who are the hosts, Ciara and Jeri, are just too funny and inviting! From the few episodes I’ve listened to, I’ve learned that they are cousins, mothers, and great friends. I believe they’ve done over 70 episodes at this point but only have around 4 or so on YouTube, so those are the only one’s I’ve listened to so far. But I love them!
Video Games
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons still! I don’t do the Snapshots post but if I did, I would have shared my adventures with Festivale, which was super fun and took longer than ten minutes to complete for once. I loved Pave and it was a ton of fun running around collecting feathers and all the items. Oh, also my second character, Estrella, finally paid off her home loan! I customized the second house to be fancier because her house is the restaurant/bar/music/event venue. My first character, Star, maxed out her already expanded storage, crazily enough. I am sort of in an ACNH slump right now so I don’t think I’ll be doing too many big projects anytime soon on the game. Before the slump I was planning to start a new character so that the new house could be an inn for the island.
Active Life
Yoga
So, after I completed the 30 Days of Yoga challenge last month, I didn’t expect that I’d want to keep going with this! I’ve still done yoga every day and it’s pretty much a habit now I think. I told one of my former coworkers about it recently and she mentioned that I had been doing yoga for about 6 weeks (now 2 months), which is how long habits take to form, so that it might very well be a lasting habit for me by now! I’m so happy about that because I do really love it. I’m really enjoying the flexibility of the practice now that it’s not a set challenge too since if I feel like doing a longer or shorter practice on that day, I can do that!
ballet
I had to skip one ballet class because of snow (I do NOT drive in snow) but otherwise I’ve gone every week. I love class and it’s so nice to get out of the house and go to the studio again. I feel like I’m getting used to my new shoes, which I didn’t expect to have to do. I used to dance in leather shoes when I started, switched to Angelo Luzio canvas shoes years later, and now I am dancing in Capeizo canvas shoes. The Capeizo ones have better support, and fit better overall, but because of it I feel off balance sometimes. I do like them though, so I’m sure I just have to get used to them. My instructor did comment on my improved turnout recently, which made me thrilled because it’s something I’ve been working hard on. She also approved of my pointed toe when working on turns and jumps across the floor recently, which also made me feel good. Of course, there’s a ton more that I do still have to work on, so I like that we’re in person and I can get corrections properly now!
So that’s what I’ve been up to this month! The entertainment portion of this month was pretty busy but I loved it!
Thanks for reading!
