Hello everyone! Today, I thought I’d share a few goals I have for both my blog and my life in general in 2021.

Typically I share a few goals every year. Unfortunately, I tend to write them down, forget about them, and then laugh when I realize I didn’t reach any of them by the end of the year. Of course I can’t reach them if I don’t remember I made them! But here’s to a new year and possibly finally remembering my goals over the year.
My 2021 Blog Goals
#1 Reach 5k Blog Views
I haven’t done too well in the past few years for blog views. That’s my own fault, I haven’t been active on other blogs, so it’s not unexpected. But I do want to get back into it and reach 5k blog views this year if possible.
#2 Rehaul the Blog
I’ve been thinking that my blog hasn’t really changed in 5 years. Well, it has in the sense that I write about different things now, but I mean like the headers on my blog don’t match anymore. For example, I have Beauty as a main category and yet I went the entire month of December, when I participated in Blogmas and posted 26 posts, without a single Beauty post. Clearly, it’s not relevant enough anymore to be a main category and I do need to change that up. I once read that you should determine your headers as if your blog was a magazine. What are the main departments of your magazine that get the most pages and are heavily featured? Those are the ones that should be your headers and mine desperately need an update!
#3 Post one video to my YouTube Channel per month
Now, it seems weird to make a YouTube goal as part of my blog goals but I don’t view my YouTube channel as a separate thing from my blog. Instead, that channel should supplement the blog. So I do want to keep up with one video per month through the entire year.
#4 Post twice a week every week, finish BirthMay and Blogmas
I’m hoping to be able to keep updating my blog as mentioned in goal #2 but still keep blogging. I want to stick to two posts per week but also complete all 31 days of BirthMay and all 24 days of Blogmas!
#5 Start Blogging in Spanish
I completely forgot this one last year, so I think I’ll bring it back this year! I’m thinking I probably should have started this right away with this post but hopefully I’ll do this soon!
My 2021 Life Goals
Now, I actually made myself a 21 Goals for 2021 page in my new bullet journal. I won’t share all 21 goals because that would probably be super boring to ready, but here’s five of my favorites.
#1 Get a New Job
So, I did lose my job in this pandemic early last year when I was furloughed back in March 2020. I have been unemployed since April of last year, not entirely by choice! I did take a few months off from job hunting last year because I was so burnt out and desperately needed a break. Plus, I figured it was best to wait it out because I wanted to look for a job in the same industry: event planning and travel. Unfortunately, that industry has been absolutely destroyed by the pandemic, and it’s still struggling so I’ve since expanded my search but it’s tough out there! I only want a virtual job though as I really don’t want to have to deal with going into an office anymore, but of course everyone feels the same way! Even so, I’m going to keep looking and hopefully finally find something soon. I’ll admit, I’ve been quite lazy mostly at looking for something because I don’t really know what I want to do for work. To be honest, I don’t really care as the job would just be to pay bills at the end of the day! But I want to really focus on this and get back to work.
#2 Travel somewhere new (to me – if possible)
So, with 2020 having gone in such a crazy direction, I wasn’t able to travel as much as I had planned. This year, I’m turning 30, so if I’m able to I’d love to travel somewhere new to me. If not, I’ll accept that because I’m not going to travel if the pandemic isn’t under control. So I’m writing this goal with a heart full of hope for the year but if I can’t accomplish this then it is what it is.
#3 Buy Property
So this goal is going to be held up by goal #1, because I’m certain I won’t be able to get any sort of loan to buy property without a job! My ideal purchase would be to buy a plot of land somewhere in the southern portion of the USA. I love the Chicagoland area but… I hate the winter! Ideally I would love to buy a plot of land, rent a portion of it out to be farm land, and build a home later down the line. A slightly less than ideal purchase would be to just buy a house near a major city in the South (I’m thinking near Houston or San Antonio in Texas) and then buy a plot of land later on. We’ll see what happens though!
#4 Edit my book
So I wrote a book in November of 2020 for NaNoWriMo. I’ve written novels before, but nothing I ever thought was actually good. I think this story is actually pretty good though and while I think the ending is completely boring (I thought it was cool at the time but now thinking back I think it’s very dull), I think I could make it work once I edit it. I was actually going to start editing it this past weekend but I realized I had no idea how to edit a novel. See, I love writing and I’m very creative, but I never fully realized that until these past few years. I’ve never taken serious writing classes beyond the required English classes in grade school and college, and even then I focused on academic essays and papers. I realized that if I was going to edit my book I had to research how to do it first because I was just completely lost on where to start or how to do it “right”. I ended up realizing that the plan I had created for myself before second guessing myself was mostly “right” after all! Except one thing that was completely off was that I only took a month off and most people suggested waiting a couple months at least before going back so that the book isn’t so fresh in my mind and I can look at it as if I’m a “new” reader. I think that’s actually really good advice so I’m going to wait for a bit before going back to it. Which leads me to my final goal!
#5 Write something new every month
I don’t want to lose momentum of writing a lot every month. In November I did NaNo, in December I did Blogmas, and I was feeling a strong need to write again this month too. The original plan, as I mentioned, was to edit the book and that didn’t work out. But I had a new book idea so I started writing it! Yes, I’m onto a new project already! Should I be focusing on getting a job and not on writing a book that might never be published? Yeah, probably. But I’m writing it anyway! I drafted the book in an afternoon and started writing. My goal for this new book is to reach 80,000 words by March 2nd. Once I finish this book’s rough draft I want to then go back to the NaNo book to edit it and then maybe switch back and forth for awhile.
I guess a “bonus” goal would be that I hope I can fully finish writing and editing both of these books and then maybe a goal next year would be to try and publish them? I love dreaming big!
So those are my goals for 2021! Please share any tips you have that may help me remember these goals. Also, maybe share a goal of yours with me if you want! I’d love to hear them!
Thanks for reading!

Good luck with all of your goals! I’m sure there’s plenty of places you might be able to travel in your own city or state if that’s possible, doesn’t have to be a different country 😊 good luck on the job front and property ladder too!

Thank you Chanelle! And that’s so true, there’s plenty of beautiful places within a few hours of me that I haven’t seen or visited in years. 🙂

Reading over this, I realized that I can relate to you so much! I’m going through a lot of the same things as you right now: wanting to rehaul my blog, start a YouTube channel, and I even signed up for NaNoWriMo yesterday!
Wishing you all the best for your goals! I’ll certainly be there with you along the way, I’m definitely looking forward to reading more! 🙂

Omg love that! Haha blog rehauls sound like so much work, but I’ve come to realize that it’s 100% necessary for me so I just gotta do it! YouTube is fun, and I’m so glad you joined NaNo! I saw that they have their smaller “Camp NaNo” event coming up in April but I couldn’t wait so I started a new project this month.
Wishing you luck with all your goals too! Goal buddies!!!! 🙂

The trick to blog rehauls is totally to take it one step at a time. I do mine while watching movies lol!
I also noticed the Camp NaNo, but I tend to act on impulse so I’ll probably start something before then. Can’t wait to hear more about how it goes for you! 🙂

I love that! I’m going to try doing it while watching movies too then.
And omg I 100% understand the impulse thing! I still gave myself a “deadline” to finish my current book because I work better with a date in mind, but this book is totally a sort of “I just wanna write!” kind of project. I can’t wait to hear about your writing journey too!
