My 2020 Goals

Hello everyone! Originally I was going to just make this a 2020 blog goals post but then I thought, why not share ALL the goals?

So that’s what I’m doing! I’m sharing a few goals I have here so that I have them all in one place. That way you guys can enjoy them as well as hold me to them!

Blog Goals

As this is my blog, why not start with the blog goals?

Goal #1: Reach 10k views in 2020

Although when I wrote it into my bullet journal (surprise! I started a bullet journal!) this goal looked like 90k. So I want to reach 10,000 views as that would be a little above what I did last year (I think around 8-9k) but not too crazy. The 90k can be the “reach” goal!

Goal #2: Finally perform blog maintenance

After a few years, I have posts that I don’t really see a purpose for anymore, categories that don’t get used as much as I thought they would, photos taking up space, etc. I really want to do a deep clean of the blog, maybe change up the theme, and just make it better.

Goal #3: Start blogging in Spanish

I’m still not sure if I want to blog in Spanish here on this blog, maybe doing a dual language blog so all posts are in both languages. Or maybe start a whole new blog? I had wanted to do some posts in English and some in Spanish here but I think it might be a little strange having it like that. For example, this blog has always been primarily in English so having half my posts in Spanish would suddenly alienate most of my readers I think. So… New Spanish Blog 2020?

Goal #4: Market and engage more

I don’t really market my posts at all except automatic updates to Twitter and, strangely, Facebook. I think I want to try to market on Pinterest again and maybe even Instagram more often. I also want to engage more with not only my comments on my blog (which I’m always falling behind on), but also other blogs and social media.

Goal #5: Post at least one time per week

Last year I did two times but as I want to do more marketing, maintenance, Spanish blogging, etc. then I think it’s best to stick to once a week. I really don’t want to take any weeks off this year too. Last year I think I took one off completely and did at least one month of blogging half as much as my goal. I’m hoping this will work!

Life Goals

I usually don’t share my life goals here but I thought, hey, why not? Might as well share them!

Goal #1: Get a new job

I graduated last year and have had my current job for awhile, which is really boring me now as it’s just not challenging. It’s super fun when it comes to travel and I have some amazing events that I work on, but I just already know everything there is to know for both my job and the one above mine so I feel I need something completely new. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can find!

Goal #2: Start dating

Everyone always teases me because although I’m on dating apps, I never am literally spending time on them. I have them but never look at them and that’s no way to get a date! I’ll have to work on that.

Goal #3: Learn to cook and continue to bake

I think I want to really focus on trying to cook this year and, since I enjoyed it, continue to try baking as well. I consider these to be mostly hobbies but baking is fun and cooking seems… necessary? So that’s my goal!

Goal #4: Don’t be lazy

I figured I’d add in my resolution here! I just want to stop being lazy as that’s a terrible habit of mine. I don’t mean that I won’t have a lazy weekend here and there, because that would be terrible too, but I do want to be intentionally lazy (aka recognize when I need a low-key weekend) instead of just passively being lazy (aka knowing I have something I could do but choosing to not to just because I don’t want to leave the house).

Goal #5: Save money

I want to save money! It’s not like I don’t already but I do tend to be quite spendy sometimes so I want curb that. I’d prefer not only to grow my savings overall for a car and/or house payment in the coming years but also to travel more and have a bigger safety net. Overall my expenses are pretty low but so is my salary so I really want to focus on saving.

So those are my goals. They’re not SMART goals which I always regret later but I had to do SMART goals for work recently which really annoys me. If you have any similar goals, or any encouragement, feel free to leave a comment!

Thanks for reading!

Pamela

  1. That’s so cool that you want to try blogging in Spanish. Would you consider doing posts in English and then having the post underneath in Spanish, I know that would make posts long but you may not want to do every post in Spanish and that way readers know where to find you 🙂

Dating isn’t always easy and a walk in the park, there are plenty of time wasters out there. I’m not a cynic but I’m in a similar boat to you and quality of people over quantity is the way to go. Make sure the person you potentially meet gives you a good feeling or else you’ll be in doubt the whole time and possibly end up disappointed.

    • Thanks Chanelle! And I have thought about it, and I think I’ve even seen another blogger do that with their posts, so I think it could be worth a try! Like you said it might make them way longer, but I like that everyone that would have access to only one would then have access in two languages at once, instead of being potentially “excluded” from something.

And thank you for the tips on dating! I just get so annoyed by it because I get friends telling me to just go on dates like crazy but as an introvert that makes it sound dreadful! I really like that you specifically say someone that gives a good feeling because that does seem like a good idea instead of just risking it or something!

  2. What are SMART goals? I’m guessing the letters stand for something? Or am I wrong? Lol.

I hope you are able to get your 10k views! & I’m looking forward to all your posts each week. 😊 I really need to do some blog maintenance, too!

Please, keep us updated on your job search, dating & baking/cooking endeavors. ♡ I would love to hear about it all! I’m also gonna work on not being lazy & saving money this year. Best of luck on accomplishing everything, Pamela! ♡

    • They do stand for something! Specific, Measurable, I forgot the A and R but one of them is something about being possible instead of impossible, and Time. Basically the goals have to be written in such a clear way that you have a clear path and definition of the goal with a deadline so on that date you can ask yourself did I meet this goal and can either say yes or no instead of some vague “kinda”. Clearly I’m doing a great job of it if I can’t remember almost half of what it means!!! LOL.

And omg I’ll def share my crazy adventures along the way. I already have gotten some great advice on budgeting from people much smarter than I on that so maybe once I try it out a bit I’ll be able to share what works and didn’t work for me. Thank you so much Hunida!
