My December Life – Blogmas Day 22

Hello everyone! Welcome to Blogmas day 22! Today, I wanted to review what I was up to in December with everyone!

It’s been a fun month, so I’ve got a few things to share!

Lively

Library fun

yoga inspiration

This month I went to a restorative yoga night at the library! It was a nice, easy yoga night with meditation and sooooo relaxing! I found out that my library hosts this about once a month and I’m so happy that I went because it was just what I needed! Above is the little card that I got with some nice words on inspiration.

DIY mugs

I also went to one DIY night this month, where we decorated mugs! I got the idea for the hearts one on Pinterest but it didn’t turn out quite how I wanted. The other, I was inspired by my librarian friend who is in charge of the activities, so I copied her.

Entertainment

This month I watched Frozen II in theaters, which I did review (follow that link). I also went to see a production of The Nutcracker, which I also reviewed (follow that link too).

I finished season 3 of The Crown, which I really enjoyed. I know lots of people were complaining about the new actors but I thought they were great!

Oh! For video games, Hogwarts Mystery, of course! Ava Samwise hasn’t had a ton to do, but she did win her second house match in Quidditich and is trying to complete the Christmas event as I write this to spend Christmas with the Weasleys. Fun!

Baking

baking gingerbread cookies

This month, I made gingerbread cookies! I took them to DIY night where everyone really seemed to enjoy them and then my coworkers also really liked them! Now, I will say the larger cookies with icing went real fast and I did have the small ones left over both times. I think because the big ones were softer and also had the icing that paired well with them they were just yummier. The smaller ones I think were harder as I didn’t think when I baked them and would often put smaller ones in with larger cookies to get more baked at once and I really shouldn’t have since they needed less time. They were crunchier but not hard so I think it was just a preference thing.

Favorites

Mexico haul 2019 makeup style decor

I don’t really have a ton of new beauty favorites this month but I love the Oriflame Love Nature Face Toner with tea tree oil. (Photo from a Mexico haul but it’s the green bottle!) I am going to see if I can get another from my cousin when I visit because it’s such a great product.

In regards to YouTube videos, I enjoyed MsRosieBea’s “Life After Uni – My Honest Experience”. Rosie’s video really resonated with what I went through after moving back home, particularly the depression part. If you’re at that stage in your life, I really recommend watching it!

I also liked The Anna Edit’s “The Chicago Vlog & U.S Haul” video. I just love seeing people enjoy Chicago, especially when they visit in times other than summer and are still able to enjoy it!

I also was introduced to a new YouTube channel The Morning Toast. Two sisters like to chat about pop culture news on weekday mornings and they’re fun to listen to. I tend to have it on as background noise when I work from home and I really enjoy the videos.

Life

Arya, my Puppy Niece visited

Sleepy Arya

Look at that sweet little face! My adorable puppy niece, Arya, came to visit early this month. My sister had to come to visit for a few days with Arya, and it was so cool having a dog in the house! She really seemed to like visiting, and loved to explore all the rooms everywhere. She also got some yummy people food, so many pets, and then hung out with her auntie (me) while I was working from home one day. I love her sooooo much!

Work Holiday Party

I had my work holiday party! It was actually the best one yet I think. The group that organized it finally did something different and they didn’t spend money on alcohol so they were able to get an awesome venue, really cool raffle prizes, and some good food. I’ve been saying for years that we don’t need to feed and get drinks for everyone so it was nice that people finally listened. I ended up winning two prizes in the raffle, one Amazon Echo Show that I am gifting my mom (I’d bought her the Google Home Mini but I’m just going to keep that one for myself and give her the Echo Show) as well as a two night stay at a hotel in the Chicagoland area! I’m so excited to use it!

And that’s my December (so far!)! I can’t wait for Christmas because I want everyone to open their gifts. Plus, one more day and then it’s the Christmas break! I’m so lucky that I work somewhere that lets us have the week off. Well, I still have to work a few hours, but not a full day so at least there’s that!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Those mugs are super cute! How fun that Ava could spend Christmas with the Weasleys– what a dream! & go you for baking such yummy cookies. 😀 I’d love to try that Love Nature toner. I wonder if it’s possible at all to get anywhere in America or maybe online? Although, I can’t use tea tree oil because I heard it kills cats… maybe a different kind but I wanna try the brand lol. Arya is freakin’ adorable & oh my gosh, so many congrats on your wins at the work party! I’d love to win a hotel stay!

    • Thank you!!! The mugs were so fun to make although I was stressed that I was going to hate them hahahaha. And omg I was so jealous of Ava, for reals. Christmas with the Weasleys is pretty much the best type of Christmas! And thank you, I am so happy they turned out good. I’m convinced that I’m a baking genius already LOL. (I’m not though!) And I would hope that it can be found in America but I’m not 100% sure since I haven’t run out so I haven’t checked. And omg yikes, def don’t use tea tree oil if it can hurt the cats! I had no idea! And omg I love Arya so much, she’s such a sweetheart and soooooo cute. And thank you!! I can’t believe I won the hotel stay still!

      • Lol I am jealous of Ava, too! & you never know, some people’s bakes never turn out good & your first few have. Maybe baking has always been your secret talent?!

Please share about the hotel stay when you go!! 😀

      • Omg, I keep thinking that baking might be the secret talent I have been dreaming of lol. I’m just so surprised because while making them it seems like something is going wrong but then I somehow fix it. I do need to practice decorating though, because I’m terrible at that part!

And I’m just about to write up my post to go up on Wednesday about my trip this past weekend 🙂 Hope you like it!

      • Oh my gosh, baking MAY be your secret talent. I know it is!! You said, “while making them it seems like something is going wrong but then I somehow fix it.” THAT’S MAGIC, YOU KNOW? Even the best chefs have a hard time baking. I bet you’ll get decorating down in no time. 🙂

❤ looking forward to reading it!

      • Hahahaha I just figure “hmmm looking a little dry” or “I think this looks like enough flour so I’m just going to stop adding it before it messes it up” even tho everyone says baking is so EXACT and that if you don’t follow the recipe it ruins it. But honestly, I find that following the recipe blindly just doesn’t really work!
