Hello everyone! Let’s grab a coffee or drink of choice and have a little chat, shall we?

I can’t believe how quickly July flew by! I can’t believe that the end of summer is almost here already. I’m going to have an iced chai tea latte today. Never hurts to stick to your favorite! Although, to be honest, I haven’t had one in so long because of the fact that the Starbucks near me was in remodel and closed for awhile and I haven’t checked if it’s open yet or not. I should check on that soon!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, how much I’m looking forward to my east coast trip! Where is the trip you ask? New York City! My sister really wanted to see the musical Be More Chill on Broadway and so she and her roommate decided to plan an NYC trip. Knowing I’m a huge fan of musicals, they invited me to go along on their weekend of musicals! My sister managed to get tickets for the last weekend of Be More Chill and her roommate decided she wants to see Hadestown while we watch that. Her roommate also invited her mom so we’re a group of four! We also got tickets for The Phantom of the Opera for all of us together and we’re planning to get tickets to one more show but there is a place in Time Square where you can go get discounted day of show tickets and we are going to pick on on that day for a “mystery” sort of show! We’re so excited and I can’t wait to share my weekend with you guys on my blog and on Instagram a bit too!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, I think I need a new pillow! My neck is so stiff and I feel like I can’t turn it too quickly to the right or that my range of motion isn’t so good on that side. I have to turn my shoulders in order to look that way (which is real fun when checking blindspots while driving let me tell ya). I have been watching a lot of chiropractor videos on YouTube so I’m thinking I might need to see one soon! Or just stretch more because it’s probably also bad posture doing it.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, I finally bought myself a new FitBit! I used to have one years ago until it broke and stopped charging completely. I hadn’t bought a new one since although I’d always meant to. Well, it just so happened that I had a gift card due to a rebate from my eye contacts that I had to use by the end of July so I made a decision to just get a FitBit with it! I ended up with the FitBit Inspire HR as it was like my old Charge HR with the heart rate feature, but this one is swimproof! I’m excited since this one can use different bands as well so I might buy some fun ones just because. Otherwise I just got the black one so that it’d match my outfits. I’m happy I used up my gift card before I lost it and have a FitBit again!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, that I participated in a reading challenge this summer through my local library! I felt bad though because when I signed up I got free concert tickets for doing so, but then I realized that because of the 4th of July canceling class, I have one more class and it’s on that night! Hopefully I can find someone to take the tickets since it’s a classical performance and should be fun. I’d hate for them to go to waste! Anyway, I did finish the challenge of reading 1,000 minutes so yay!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, that I’m not ready for summer to end! I always feel like I never enjoy it as much as I should, which is a huge bummer. Especially since winters in Chicago are just so harsh so they’re not really an opportunity to enjoy the area and events. I always mean to try to use more of my vacation days to try and enjoy the season, but it just never happens unfortunately. I have my NYC trip though, so hopefully that will redeem me!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, that being in ballet this summer was great! Honestly, I do need to get in better shape. Once I started doing ballet I also started walking almost every day after work or during my breaks at work and it’s been amazing. I feel much better and I hope I can keep it up long term, even as the weather starts to cool.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, how I have had such a slow period at work lately! In order to keep busy I’ve been watching tons of tutorials on Excel to get better at it, and I’ve recently mastered the Index Match function. I’m still looking for a way to get it to work the way I want it to, but for now I think it’s good. I’ve also cleaned off my desk at work, and I should really do the same to my desk at home because it’s a hot mess again!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, how this weekend we decided to participate in the community garage sale again! We did it last year and it went pretty well so we thought we’d give it a try this year too. I’m writing this before the weekend so keep your fingers crossed that we sell a ton of stuff!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, that I’m doing really well with my balance goal. The past month was a great opportunity to practice. For example, I went through a few days when I wasn’t sleeping well and normally I don’t nap and go out of my way to not nap. However, I knew I was running low on energy due to this so I decided to take a nap anyway knowing it wasn’t me being lazy, but me taking care of myself.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you, that positivity was really hard for me last month. I was basically being targeted by a few people intent on bringing me down and derailing me but I won’t let them get me down! (Sorry, can’t share details just in case they see this!) I’m working hard on getting that negativity out of my life though because it’s really stressing me out and ANNOYING! That lack of sleep I mentioned earlier? Yeah, this is the cause of that. Anyway, I’m all about positivity so I’m going to focus on moving on and getting back to a good place. I’m so lucky to have my family, friends, and you guys to get me through. Please send me positive vibes! 🙂
So there you have it! Even though the month of July started out amazing, the rest of it was really shitty to be honest. August is starting out quite terribly but hopefully the rest of it will go well! So, what would you tell me if we were having coffee?
Thanks for reading!

Wow, I’m happy to hear all these great things happening for you! It sounds like a great mixture of success and forming new habits. It sucks to hear about your stiff neck though… I did see on a vlog that this couple highly recommends Japanese rice pillows but they were kinda pricy for one on Amazon if I recalled correctly. I hope you find something soon to help you out!
I started to do barre on a near-daily basis for the past three weeks and totally see myself moving more outside of class as well. I don’t know why but I think that we put so much effort into going to these fitness classes that it forces us to continue our activities, no matter how small, outside of class as well. It’s really nice to feel my body change and knowing I’m taking care of it.

Thank you Claire for suggesting the rice pillows! I’ll have to look at them further since my neck keeps getting worse and worse. Someone else told me it might be my mattress which could very well be the case too.
I think so as well! I would love to try a barre class sometime and a friend and I are looking for yoga and bootcamp classes now. I agree, even just a little bit of fitness I think can really do wonders to impact your mindset and activity levels!

Oh my gosh, so exciting about your trip to NYC! The discounted ticket booth is where I went to get my Broadway ticket when I was there & the show I chose was also a ‘mystery’ until I got to the window! So fun that you’ll be going to (or went to) so many different ones!!
I hope you’ve gotten a new pillow & your neck is feeling better, that sounds like a pain. 😭
Congrats on completing the library reading challenge! Woohoo! Fingers crossed you sell a bunch of stuff in the garage sale. 🤞🏽
I’m glad you took a nap when you needed to, you’re right that it is more important to take care of yourself. ♡ I wish I knew who was trying to tear you down so I could give ’em a piece of my mind! Lol don’t let ’em get to you babe you don’t deserve it!
I hope August has been treating you loads better than July. Sending all the positive vibes your way!! Lovely coffee chat!! ♡
