The Reader Problems Tag

Hello everyone! Today I’m doing the Reader Problems Tag!

I was tagged by Jenny from Book Coffee Happy, and I’m excited to participate in it! I don’t do posts on Tuesdays anymore so it’s not technically a “Tag Me Tuesday” post but I’m still going to categorize it in that so it’s easier to find with my other tags. Here’s the Reader Problems Tag!

You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How do you decide what to read next?

It honestly varies! Sometimes I have another book I’m reading at the same time so I’ll just try reading that. Other times I have a book I’ve been waiting to start. Otherwise I’ll either look through my shelves and grab whatever seems like a good option to follow the previous book or look through my Goodreads TBR to get a new idea.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?

I think it depends on the book/situation. If I’m being honest, I’m usually the type to try to power through but lately I’ve realized life is just too short to give time to a book you don’t enjoy. I’m getting better at just putting down the book and looking for something else.

The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge. Do you try to catch up? And if so, how?

Depends! So for the last few years I’ve been in grad school and classes have gone right up to the end of the year holidays. By the end it was just too much to think about the reading challenge! I’m doing a reading challenge at my local library now though and I’m out of school so I’m really hopeful I’ll meet it this year!

The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?

I’ve learned to live with it for the few series I have. Usually I get into series super late so I buy paperbacks for the older books to catch up and then when I do I end up getting hardcovers. Oh well! I don’t buy many books anymore though and I usually get them through the library so I don’t have anything to worry about!

Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?

I mean, you can always find negative reviews on anything if you look for it on the internet. There’s usually some review on Goodreads that has the same issues I do with a book so I know I’m not alone!

You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?

I always carry tissues, just in case! Honestly, everyone is so focused on their phones that no one would ever know.

The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?

Yes! I do love to reread the stories I like the best anyway so that’s perfect.

You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?

I think it would depend on the book. If it’s a book that’s signed, sentimental, or an older version I would say no because I can’t risk not getting it back. But other books that are newer and easy to replace I wouldn’t have an issue with it.

You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?

Oh geez, I’ve been there so much over the years! I just keep looking for a book that will hold my interest until one does!

There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read. How many do you end up buying?

I don’t buy many books anymore! I will get them from the library. I think I only buy maybe 5 books per year max. More like 3 I think. And usually they’ll be provided when I buy a ticket to a book signing event or come pre-signed.

After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read, how long do they sit on your shelf before you read them?

It depends on this took. I usually will read new books pretty quickly but it also depends on how many books I’m reading already. I try to keep it a max of 2 books I go between so if I already have 2 I’ll probably wait until I finish one.

And that’s the Reader Problems Tag! I’m not tagging anyone specifically but if you want to do this tag, feel free to do so!

Thanks for reading!

Pamela

  1. I have a 100 page rule, if I’m not enjoying it by then I stop and flick through a little bit and move on to the next book 🙂 libraries are such wonderful places and I’m not just saying that because I work in one!
