My Summer FabFitFun Box

Hello everyone! Today I’m sharing my summer FabFitFun box with you!

I’ve been a subscriber for awhile and I always share the boxes I get on my blog. Honestly, I’m not really excited about this box but here we are. I really can’t wait to cancel my subscription now since it’s not as good as it used to be. Plus the issues I have with it is that there seem to be more and more people having problems with shipping or missing products they ordered in the sales or something like that. It seems weird that I’m considering cancelling due to the negative experiences other members have faced but honestly the issues they’ve had that I’ve seen are a little concerning and I worry that I’ll be stuck in the same situations of items being charged but never sent or orders being cancelled without refunds and such. Anyway, I still have two boxes after this on (I did the annual membership) so maybe they’ll redeem themselves! I did see they just expanded to ship to the UK in addition to the US and Canada so I’m thinking maybe the issues stemmed from trying to rapidly expand but now that it’s in place they can go back to fix the issues. That’s likely wishful thinking but we can always hope!

The Box: Theme & Charity

This box’s art was themed around palm leaves and tropical flowers! I loved how it looked. I got a yellow box and it makes me so happy! The inside matches but it’s just green instead of yellow.

The charity this time is Global Gift Foundation USA which focuses on helping children, women, and families in need. There was also an update on the spring charity! For the Ian Somerhalder Foundation there was a total of $61,519 raised.

The Items

So I’ll start with the customizations. All members get to make three selections and annual members make an additional two. The remaining four items are in every box. I’ll just specify the items I got but include a general idea of what else was offered.

All Member Selections

The first customization I picked the Sol de Janeiro Brazillian Bum Bum Cream & Brazillian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel. I wasn’t really excited about any of the options in this category but I do like the Bum Bum Cream from a sample of it I have so I wanted to just go with this. It normally retails for $45 and the other options were a travel hair dryer, a robe, or a small beach towel.

The second customization I actually picked two items. I picked the 111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask (Set of 5) and the West Elm Indigo Tie-Dye Bowls. I got the masks because they sounded really cool and like a great deal. I kind of regret getting the bowls because I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them but they are really cute. The items normally retail for $39 for the bowls and the masks were $160 and the other options were a tote and a sort of letter board that is pretty popular on instagram and such. Technically because I picked two items I had to pay extra for the masks. I believe it was $15 that I paid for them.

The third customization I picked the Jennifer Zeuner Star Double Necklace. I wasn’t too thrilled with these options either but I love stars (which partly explains my blog name) so I wanted to get that one! It normally retails for $50 and the other options were fitness resistance bands and silicone wine cups.

Annual Member Selections

The next two options were only customizations because I am an annual member. For the fourth one I picked a mystery choice! I didn’t really get excited at the other options so I wanted to have the mystery item. I don’t know what all the options were but I got Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer. It normally retails for $38 and the other options were an eyeliner and a hair styling cream. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect! I remembered last box one of the mystery items was a brown liquid lip that members seemed to hate. I was really happy to have received this because of two reasons. One, I do like the Dr. Brandt items I’ve tried in the past. Two, I needed a new primer! It was great! Of course, I only got this item by chance as I didn’t really want the other options and it was completely a surprise that I got this so while I’m happy I liked it and the “risk” paid off, I just didn’t like the actual options and only picked this as a last resort. That’s disappointing to me even if the item itself seems great.

The last customization is the Coola Organic SPF 30 Makeup Setting Sunscreen Spray. Again, I wasn’t excited at the other options and I do like Coola’s sunscreen moisturizer so I wanted to try it. I have my concerns though. Since picking it I learned that it smells bad and that it tends to sting some people when they spray it so that’s worrisome. My skin does tend to be kind of sensitive. Plus, I love my Urban Decay setting spray so I’m not sure it’ll hold up against it. Finally, sunscreen is most effective when directly on your skin, not over makeup, so that’s kind of concerning to think it might not really work. I’ll have to try it! It normally retails for $36 and the other options were sort of healing cream and an exfoliator.

In Every Box Items

There are four items everyone gets. For this box they are the Generation Clay Ultra Violet Brightening Purple Clay Mask, Grace & Stella Rose Facial Spray, Whish Exfoliating Foot Mask, and Invisibobble Original Duo Pack. These items were interesting. I do want to try the masks and spray but I remember seeing some of these items or similar items in the sales so it felt redundant. I am still excited to try them out, it’s just that this box as a whole doesn’t feel as exciting as past boxes which featured new items that weren’t available for sale to the public yet. The mask retails for $39, the spray for $25.95, the foot mask for $32, and the hair bands for $16.

In total my box was worth $320.95. That’s pretty much right in the middle of this season’s range of box values so that was cool!

Add-Ons

I got three of the same item for the Add-Ons. It sounds kinda silly but I have a reason for it! I got the Nectar Brown Tortoise Roundeye Blue Light Blockers. I always have my Summer & Rose blue light glasses in my bag all the time because I like to wear them at work and at home but would love to have a pair for home and one for work. They were only $5 a pair and retail for $45 so I figured why not! Then for the two extras I got I plan to keep one as a back up or give as a gift to my sister if she wants one. The other is for a coworker who loved the ones I had and wanted a pair of her own. I texted her when I saw this option in the sale and asked her if she wanted me to grab her a pair and she was all for it! I already have given them to her so I hope she does like them.

That’s all I got in the sale this time around. The way the sales work is that annual members get early access to the items and then the rest of the members do. During the sale you can put items into your cart and then at the end of the sale a few weeks later you’re automatically charged for the items in your cart. While the sale items are usually a good value the stuff I am usually most interested in are sold out immediately. Of course, you can usually grab them later because people go crazy and put stuff in their carts that they don’t actually buy. In the days leading up to the end of the sale you can usually get whatever it is that you want. There’s always an issue that when the sale opens the site crashes and when it’s up people shop, but eventually it crashes again and people lose what is in their carts. I’ve also heard of people being charged for items they’ve dropped so that’s also another thing but I’ve never had that. Oh, and another thing, if you shop the sale your box could get shipped later than normal depending on the items which is also kind of a bummer. Either way, if there’s something in the future that I really like I’ll still try to get it but otherwise I don’t always get extras in the sale!

And that’s the Summer FabFitFun box! What do you think about the box? Is it still interesting or getting stale?

Thanks for reading!

  1. Those tie-dye bowls are my fave item in the box, you shouldn’t regret that choice! They’re gorgeous! & so is that necklace. 😍

I’m curious how that sunscreen setting spray worked?? I need to start protecting my skin better & love the idea (if it truly works!).

That was so sweet of you to pick up a pair of the glasses for your friend. I still need to get me a pair! $5 is such a steal.

I hate to hear that the boxes aren’t as great as they used to me & that other customers have had such issues. I totally understand why you’re cancelling but I’ll miss reading your unboxings! 😭

    • I do love the bowls a lot, but I don’t have my own kitchen to use them in so I feel like I will just have them in the box for awhile!

I actually ended up giving the spray to my cousin, so I’ll have to ask her how she felt about it! She’s gotten really into makeup and such recently so I put together stuff I wasn’t really going to use so she could have it!

Haha I know she really wanted a pair when I got mine so I figured I’d ask if she wanted me to order a pair!

Yeah, I mean, I really haven’t had a huge issue with them at all, just my box took forever to get to me this time and usually it’s super fast. We’ll see if they redeem themselves though! But it’s also just so much money too, ya know?

      • Well, the bowls will look wonderful in your kitchen when you do get your own place & you will be so grateful to have them. 🙂

Ooh, curious to know how your cousin liked the spray then! & I get what you mean about FFF, it really is expensive!!
