Hello everyone! Today, I’m sharing my goal for the 28th year of my life: Balance!

This is my third annual BirthMay! What is BirthMay, you ask? Well I blog every day in May because it’s my birth month! I started BirthMay in 2017 and did it again in 2018 so I knew I had to do it again this year.
I started intentionally picking ONE yearly goal to work on a few years ago. Last year it was “get it done” and the year before was “speak up“. Honestly, I think it works very well so I decided to look for one again for this year. I came up with “balance” and here’s how that came about!
I went through a few that felt good but nothing was perfect until just a few weeks ago when I came across an old list of blog post ideas. The idea was “balancing work/travel/school/blog/etc.” and I realized balance was the perfect goal for me. Although the post was meant to tell you how I was achieving a balance, I never wrote it because I never felt that I had a good enough grasp of it.
I mean, I straight up told everyone that I was going to prioritize school for two entire years. I did cut back and blogged twice a week consistently but it was still not balanced. To be honest, I would blog plan with some great ideas but put off writing the posts so by the time I finally got around to it (because I would prefer to do school work which was understandable but still) I wouldn’t have time to make the thing I envisioned so I’d just not do it and pick something “easy” to write about. Eventually as I worked on my “get it done” goal it got easier to shift things around and get more of those more ambitious posts out but I would love to do more of that.
Besides that, I’ve also increased steadily how much I travel or how much I want to explore Chicago before I eventually move away. I also want to make sure that the other hobbies I’ve sought out are also in the mix. Learning guitar, continuing to sew, beginning my cooking adventures are all new but my love for reading, make up, video games, and more are still there so I need to make sure I’m balancing all of my hobbies.
As I continue to go through life, I find the need for balance to be more and more important. That whole “work/life balance”? Yeah, that’s become more important to me as I continue to plan both my work schedule with my life schedule of learning, traveling, blogging, and more. I know that term usually seems to apply to parenting, and since I want to be a puppy mom some day I think that would count too. So getting this one in early is for the best!
I figured this would be a great time to chose to focus on balance and really try to find that perfect blend between everything in my life. Well, perfection is a myth so let’s say as close as we can get in a year of trying!
I’m looking forward to learning the art of balance this year and I hope it goes well. If you have any tips for me, leave them in the comments, will ya?
Thanks for reading!

I really need to get myself a sewing machine so I can get on your level! Your sewing videos are so fun to watch! And it’s so funny how just a few years ago I thought it was overly dramatic that people were so into that idea but now I totally GET IT! I’m 100% on board with it!

Awwww that’s so sweet of her!!! I’ve looked at a few online and they more or less seem to be the same price range for a decent one. Do you mind sharing what brand yours is so I can look into that one? And omg I can’t believe how foolish I was in my youth to think work-life balance wasn’t so important! At least I’ve grown and learned!!!

Such a perfect word!! My word for this year was “quiet”.. just focusing on being in still, quiet moments more and turn off the noise!

Ya libra girl here is all about balance ♎️ but lately, I’ve felt so off! Work has seemingly taken over my life recently and it’s been super stressful to try and get through the home-buying process or even begin it…I hope you find your balance soon and can spread the good energy to me too haha

Haha I found a balance expert! I’m a Taurus and I think my thing is supposed to be stability? I forget but when I read it I go “ohhhh that makes sense”. And wow you have so much going on! I hope you’re able to find that balance again soon and I’ll def share the good energy with youuuuuu!!!!

Love this word but I have none of it! Lol not in life & not in general. 😂

Hahahaha that “not in general” part though!!! Honestly, it’s hard! Especially when it comes to trying to “catch up” with it when you feel unbalanced!
