What I got in Texas #BirthMay Day 6

Hello everyone! For today’s BirthMay post, I’m sharing what I got in Texas during my recent trip there.

This is my third annual BirthMay! What is BirthMay, you ask? Well I blog every day in May because it’s my birth month! I started BirthMay in 2017 and did it again in 2018 so I knew I had to do it again this year.

For Houston, everything I brought back with me there was gifted to me. The San Antonio things I bought for myself!

So basically all the space stuff/stuff that says FIRST on it is stuff I was gifted! Special shout out to the people at FIRST who always spoil me rotten with gifts!

Starting with the shiny bag, my client gave me that one! She is such a sweetie. She filled it with some goodies as a thank you gift. Among them was the “all systems go” magnet and the Google sponsored safety glasses, as well as the thank you card. (I finally have my own pair of safety glasses!)

She also gifted me another FIRST power bank as I had mentioned to her that I used it to power up my phone during my six hour delay on the plane. She got me another and that was so sweet of her!

The purple FIRST shirt is this year’s volunteer shirt. They always have extras and this year they had a ton of large and extra large left so I grabbed a few for my family and one for me. I figured we’re all kind of chunky so they’ll fit. They couldn’t reuse the shirts because they have both the year and the city on them so at the end of the event they do give away the extras.

The red FIRST Canada strap on the Google safety glasses and the FIRST Canada shirt were gifts from one of the senior mentors of FIRST Canada who always works at the registration desk. He’s one of my favorite people to see onsite and since we’ve gotten to know each other year after year he gifts me a few things that he has. He also brings FIRST Canada ribbons that go on the bottom of our badges and he always eventually gives some to everyone at the registration desk. Everyone always asks if we’re from Canada when they see the ribbons and we always joke that we’ve become honorary citizens of Canada for the event!

From San Antonio I bought a little mug! I’d originally planned for it to be for my dad but it’s kind of small and he likes bigger mugs so instead I got him a hat that he loved way more and I kept the mug for myself. Even though I didn’t buy it intending it to be for me I do really love how it looks. There may have been other mugs more “me” but this one is cute!

I didn’t include the shirt I bought in San Antonio in the photo for the post because I had just washed it and it was air drying. If you look at Day 2 though, that’s the shirt I bought! I got it in a little boutique in San Antonio called Plaza Taxco in La Villita. It’s a jewelry store but had a few shirts for sale so I figured I’d buy one. I do really like it but the dye was coming off in the wash. Luckily I noticed it before it got on the rest of my clothes so I pulled it out of the wash cycle quickly and then hand washed it. I decided to let it air dry as it does seem quite delicate.

And that’s all I got in Texas! I really tried to restrain myself from buying much because I didn’t really need it. Plus, if I move to San Antonio it didn’t make sense to buy stuff only to have to take it back in a few years! What do you tend to buy when you travel? Anything you collect?

Thanks for reading!

  1. That’s awesome all the gifts they gave you! & I love the mug, even if it was meant for your dad. 😂 All of your outfits are so cute but that shirt on Day 2 def makes that one my favorite!
