5 Hyped Beauty Products I’ve Tried

Hello everyone! Today I’m sharing 5 beauty products that were hyped up so much and that I have tried!

Now, I did try these out of curiosity, not just for this post, so I guess the hype worked on me!

They’re not necessarily recent hypes for all of them, but hopefully you still enjoy reading about them!

Silk Pillowcase

So first up is my silk pillowcase. I have this Slip Pure Silk Pillowcase that I got as an add-on to my 2018 Summer FabFitFun box last year. These pillowcases were hyped up as they’re meant to be anti-aging and anti-creasing for your face, as well as better for your hair. I managed to get this one for $39 in the sale but I believe it retails normally for $89, although I have seen more sales on it in the recent months.

As for my thoughts on the pillowcase, I do like it! I’m not sure how true the anti-aging promises are, as I feel like things like that just aren’t noticeable. However I do think there are less face creases if I manage to keep the blanket from scooting in-between my face and the pillow (I like to sleep with my hand under my head for some reason).

For the hair, I do notice a huge improvement with the bead head issues. My hair tangles so easily and I used to wake up with giant knots in my hair but it’s so much less since getting this pillowcase so I think it was worth it for that alone.

Do I recommend trying this? Yes, but definitely wait for a sale on it!

Rose Quartz Face Roller

I mentioned before that I had thought the face rollers were extremely silly at first, so naturally I had to get one! I ended up getting this Zoya Ayla Rose Quartz Roller from a FabFitFun edit sale. The face rollers were hyped up because they are meant to massage your face to keep it smooth and it’s supposed to help sculpt it as well. Plus there’s also the belief that crystals have benefits as well.

I don’t really think it does much of anything to be honest. I haven’t seen any benefits from it. It’s really just a fun product, and a really pretty one too, but not particularly useful or helpful. Plus a lot of reviews I’ve seen of rollers is that they fall apart really easily. The cooling effect it has feels really good though, so it’s more of a mood booster than anything I think.

Do I recommend it? No, it’s fun but ultimately doesn’t really do anything.

Magnetic Mask

At the beginning of the year last year I remember seeing so many people trying out magnetic masks, where you put on the mask and then use a magnet to remove it. I received the Dr. Brandt Magnetight Age-Defier Skin Recharging Magnet Mask in a Dr. Brandt VoxBox from Influenster free to review, and I was excited to try it. I’m not sure if there was any reason to the hype other than just being cool to remove.

I really ended up liking this mask! Besides the hyped magnet removal, I did feel that my skin afterwards was so smooth and felt amazing. The magnet part was fun, but if the tissue you use rips then the mask never comes off the magnet. Also, when you remove the tissue if the mask falls off then it can be quite messy! Luckily you just use the magnet again to clean it up so that works well.

Do I recommend it? Yes, it feels great, and it’s so fun to use on top of that!

Bath Bombs

I did warn you that not everything was recently hyped! Bath bombs were so big years ago but I still get one from time to time. These were super hyped up because of how fun they are I suppose! You drop one into the bath and it fizzes up and turns the water fun colors.

I still really enjoy bath bombs. They make the bath so fun! I also think the ones for bubbles are amazing too, although the bubbles always disappear so quickly. They also do make the bath so much more relaxing and do leave my skin feeling so soft and pampered!

Do I recommend it? Yes, it’s so relaxing and well worth it!

Charcoal Toothpaste

I feel like this product was hyped so long ago too! I tried the Molr Dental Club Organic Carbon + Coconut Teeth Whitening Powder and Toothbrush which came in my first ever FabFitFun box, which was fall of 2017. I had already been planning to try a charcoal toothpaste before getting the box so that worked out great. It was so hyped because it is more of a natural way to brush and whiten your teeth.

I didn’t really notice a huge difference with it and it was super messy to use. I didn’t end up finishing it mostly because of the mess it made. As for the natural part of it, I didn’t really feel it cleaned as well so normally I would still brush my teeth after using this with my regular toothpaste anyway.

Do I recommend it? No, I don’t think it gives the claimed results so I don’t think it’s really worth it.

  1. I used to have a silk pillowcase when I was younger because my hair was crazy curly, but as I’ve gotten a bit older my hair now has a beach-waves texture that is much more manageable! But that silk pillowcase did wonders for my hair when I was little, and I’d totally reinvest if I found one for a good price. I’ve been thinking about getting a stone roller for fun, but I’ve heard so many people say it does next to nothing for their skin. Maybe I should take the money I would’ve sunk into that and finally buy that pillowcase!

    • I really like the silk pillowcase! That’s good to hear that it helped your hair and also that it’s more manageable now. And I’d say I agree with what you heard about the roller, I don’t think it does have any skin benefits but it’s just fun to use. The pillowcase is def better!

  2. I’ve been seeing more and more people getting the silk pillowcases! Maybe I need one, too! Anything to prevent the wrinkles from coming in lol!

So disappointing but kind of expected about the roller. It really does seem so silly & if people are claiming that it works… maybe they are getting paid!? Lol. I have actually never heard of these magnet masks before though… whaaa?!?

I think I didn’t use my first bath bomb until last year! You should try bubble bars 🙂 they make tons of lasting bubbles!!

    Loved this post, Pamela!

    • Haha I’m getting to that point too! Anti-aging? I’m sold!!!

And the roller really doesn’t seem to be doing anything, it’s just fun. I can’t imagine anyone saying they are seeing results unless it’s actually whatever other creams and such there’s using. The magnet masks though are fun, def look those up!

Ooooo I’ll totes check out bubble bars. I love bubbles and they always disappear so fast! Thank you!!!

      • Me tooo lol gimme all the anti-aging creams, pleeease! & I actually saw a blog post about the roller showing results… there were pretty believable before & after photos but you’re right, she didn’t list her skincare routine! I will def keep a lookout for the magnet masks, I hope a sub box I’m subbed to will send me one?! & yes, girl!! Bubble bars are so bubbly!! You will love them. 😀
