Hi everyone! Today I’m going to show some of the fun things that I got up to this month! It’s been a pretty fun month, I’m not going to lie. I got so much done but still left room for enjoying the season.
Here’s what I got up to this month!
School
I’m going to start with a short bit on school since I just did a post update on my MBA journey. This past week was my first week back after class was cancelled due to the professor no longer teaching at the college. It was weird and I think my classmates and I are trying to keep an open mind but it’s not really working. We just really, really enjoyed our class up to that point and it’s not the same at all. However, we’re going to get through it so I’m trying to make the best of it.
For my leadership class, I finished my paper and will turn it in this week! It was a process. I wrote two pages, hated it, started over. Then I wrote six pages, still hated it, started over again. Then I wrote an outline and then wrote 11 pages all in one go. My grade school English teachers were onto something… I’m hopeful it’ll be a good grade!
Oh! And I was on campus during homecoming week so check out those cool banners on the main campus building! I didn’t go to any of the actual activities but it was fun to see the decor.
Shopping and Photo Shoot
So recently a new little mall of sorts opened on the way from work to my house! My manager was sending packages to two of my favorite remote employees so I stopped at the newly opened Barnes & Noble to get them stuff. One of my work friends tagged along and we also went to REI, Nordstrom Rack, Homegoods, and Whole Foods, all of which are new!
While we were there we realized there was so much art on the walls and around the place. Here’s some of my favorite photos from the day, with those wing murals! If you follow my insta you’ll have seen them already but I really love them. Although if I had known we were going then I would have worn a more fun or cute outfit but ah well. Still had a blast and that’s what’s important!
Six Flags Fright Fest
My mom and I took the day to go to Fright Fest this month. It was quite chilly which was a shame but we knew it might be the last opportunity to go for the festivities. We went pretty early, rode one coaster before the lines got crazy long, had lunch, went to two shows, got dinner, and watched another show, and then went home before the scarers got us!
What shows did we see? Well first we saw the Love at First Fright musical show. This show is nearly always the same but they update the jokes every year (or more often from what I heard from the crowd waiting outside before the doors open) based on current events. They were pretty tame but I also overheard that the last show every night is a “no mercy” show which goes all out with the jokes. I’m sad to have missed those! Oh, but one of my friends from high school was in this show and I sent her a message on insta telling her how good they did! It’s always so fun to see it!
Then we left the theatre but waited outside again to see The Ringmaster’s Cabaret. This is a mix of a musical show and a magic/circus show. There were contortionists and a balance act this year. Last year was the first year they had it I believe and I had only seen it on accident as this show was usually in the evening after the scarers came out but that day the shows were flipped because of a cast member who had a family emergency. So this year I really wanted to see both and I was happy to see that they alternate the shows now! They changed some of the show beyond the acts as well, like the character Alice’s costume and makeup which I was a little sad about but it matches much better with the theme now. I like it!
The last show was a street show that I believe is just called Uprising. It starts at 5:45pm and takes up the 15 minutes until the scarers come out. It was hard to see anything as it was super crowded by that point so my mom and I gave up soon after that and then tried to make our way out of the park but stopped occasionally both to see the show, see a part of the parade, or just wait for people to start moving again. It was really packed, since there were people standing to watch what was happening and portions of the area that were off limits due to the passing parade. But it was fun and we got out without being scared!
Sweet Charity the Musical
Also this month I went to see Sweet Charity with a friend of mine from high school (different friend, who knew I had so many friends?????). I wrote a review on Sweet Charity earlier this month so I won’t go into that but the day was fun. My friend lives near me so we usually carpool when we hang out (our towns are neighbors and there is nothing to do in either one so we have to leave the immediate area). She picked me up and we headed out to the town with the theatre where we grabbed an early lunch. I got waffles and she got an omelette and gluten free pancakes so I guess it was more like breakfast. Then we went over to the theatre and hung out there before going to see and enjoy the show!
Health Update?
This seems like a weird sort of update for me as I don’t think I generally do health updates about like medical stuff. Usually I just try to pretend that I’m living an active lifestyle so this is a first! So my employer’s medical insurance makes us have bloodwork done every year and so I had to fast for 12 hours before it. TWELVE HOURS. I’ve never been so hungry in my life. Just kidding, I stuffed my face before class on Thursday night, ate pumpkin bread right before my cut off time, then it was at 8:45am the next day so I got to work, worked for about an hour and a half, and then gave them my blood.
That’s my dinner! Italian sandwich, water, and a sugar cookie with pink for breast cancer awareness month and a bluejay because that’s our mascot. Plus the not pictured pumpkin bread one of my classmates made for us because she’s a kind soul. Oh my entire class was in HORROR that I couldn’t eat for 12 hours. TWELVE HOURS.
So besides the issues I have with my health insurance company knowing that much about my health and calling me “overweight” because of my BMI, my results came back pretty good! I had a good blood pressure, 111/80, and the only thing that was outside the “healthy” range was my blood platelets. I had a little too many but I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing since all the concerns were about having too little. Well it did say undiagnosed cancer could be why it’s too high but that’s only if you’re like over a million and I was in the high 400s so I think I’m okay.
My biggest concern was the TWELVE HOURS thing. I’ll stop being dramatic now.
So that is my month! I guess overall it was pretty low-key but it was fun and I enjoyed it! I do have a few fun things planned or in the works for November so hopefully I have a good time then too. I hope you had a good month and let me know what you got up to in the comments!
Thanks for reading!

Fasting is the worst. Luckily most of it happened overnight for me but I was so worried I’d forget in the morning and eat. But I remembered! Haha and thank you!!

Fasting is terrible business, especially when you have to do it mindfully. The good news is that you are all clear in the health reports. Way to go, girl!
Seems you have had an eventful October. The Fright Fest looks like it would have been a hoot. 🙂 xx

You can now put that awful phase of fasting behind. I get the scare, since I just went through it with my last test which proclaimed everything in the body working tip-top again.
November will be good. It is a trooper of a month. 🙂 xx
