HI everyone! Today I’m going to share my If We Were Having Coffee post for October. I can’t believe we’re so close to the end of the year now. I’m not sure how I feel about it because I feel like I just need more time. For what? Everything! But ah well.
I have to say, I’m feeling a tiny bit negative because I’ve been sick for the past two weeks but my goal this year is to “get it done” after all so I’m going to push through! Getting my positive pants on and getting ready to go!
Today I’m having a cinnamon dolce latte I believe. I ordered my usual chai at Target’s Starbucks the other day but they were all out! The amazing barista suggested a different drink and while I still prefer my chai this was delicious and I love it!
If We Were Having Coffee
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how happy I am that my leadership class is over! Well not 100% over as I still need to write my paper and turn it in but the class portion of it is finally done. Now I only have one class to worry about. More on that in my next post on Sunday!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how fall has snuck up on me! I was just wearing sandals the other day but now I’m wearing boots because it’s far too cold for my little toes. I am happy about it although I wish the change was more gradual so I could slowly ease into it and get a chance to switch out my wardrobe!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how great it was to spend time with people last month. That sounds weird, doesn’t it? I’ll explain. For one, I normally go straight home after class and over the summer I went home instead of going out to drinks with my classmates but this month after the leadership class I joined in. I’m really happy I did as it was a great time with my classmates and I enjoyed spending time with them then, on top of going to lunch with them every day as well. Another is time I spent with my coworkers, as we had a department outing and we were able to just hang out without worrying about meetings and such. And lastly was the time I spent with my family at my uncle’s birthday party this past weekend. We hardly ever see them as most of them live south of Chicago and we’re way up north so it was nice to be able to catch up. We also saw family who were in from Georgia as well since they came for the party! I hope October and the rest of the year bring more of that!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how much I’m enjoying house hunting! Now, I have to be honest, I’m not even looking to buy a house anytime soon but I love looking at houses and dreaming of what I’ll look for when I do eventually start shopping for real. I’m still looking at the San Antonio area but I might start looking in Florida as I have a few friends and family there or perhaps Arizona where I also have a friend at. I don’t know anyone in San Antonio but that’s not really something that will actually stop me!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I’m hoping to do more things at my public library. They have so many cool programs that I am interested in and want to participate in. I have added a bunch into my calendar and while I might not make it to all of them I will certainly try to make it to a few more. And I do want to continue to go to the DIY nights as well! It’s first come first serve now so I will have to show up early to make sure I get a spot I think but that’s fine. I did have to miss the last one of the summer as I was very sick but hopefully now I won’t have to worry about it!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I’ve basically ignored Instagram for the past week or so and while I don’t miss it, I kinda feel bad for ignoring it? I do enjoy photography, but it just seems so fake and I know lots of people stage their photos. I try to make mine look nice but I don’t stage them so I feel like I’m doing it wrong at times. But I’m going to try to get back into it and think of it as just my own personal insta again, not a personal/blog insta and I think that should fix it.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how my friend got us into a new restaurant near work for lunch later this week and I’m so excited! It’s a new BBQ place in a new shopping center that just opened and I’ve been waiting ages for it to do so. The Barnes & Noble moved from the huge mall across the street and I’m hoping that it’ll be easier to park for it since the mall was always a nightmare. I’ve let many a free Starbucks drink (through my B&N membership) and many a discount (also through the membership) go to waste because I’ve been too lazy to find parking and deal with that nightmare. Also a new REI opened which is the first in the area around me and I’m super excited to see what that’s all about. I don’t even like the outside but I think this store will help me turn that frown upside down. Oh and a Nordstrom Rack opened, which my friend is thrilled about. Basically a ton of happiness for us, and a lot of worry for our wallets.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I participated so much in sports this past week. On Monday I became a Chicago Bears (football) fan for about 25 minutes while my aforementioned friend and I went to Dunkin’ Donuts (or just Dunkin’ now??) to get a free medium coffee since they won on Sunday. Then we watched the start of the Chicago Cubs (baseball) game during lunch later that day. Unfortunately we weren’t able to watch the rest and I had a meeting over the rest of the game, on top of the fact that they lost. 😦 Poor Cubbies! They still get to play though and while I don’t quite understand the rules and such for either sport it’s still exciting and my friends are quite eager for me to continue to join them in their sport fever haha!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I gave a presentation to the sales side of my department with a coworker and we rocked it! They were all really excited and impressed on how we did it and our ideas and seemed really excited to talk further about them and work with us on developing them. I’m so happy it went well and I can’t wait to continue to improve the ideas with them.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m super excited for this month and I can’t wait to see what is in store!
My September in Seconds
Before I end this post, here’s my September in seconds video! I mostly did pictures this month as, if I’m being honest, I forget to take a video of what I’m doing. But I managed to scrape together a video and I hope you enjoy it even if it is mostly just pictures!
So that’s what I’d tell you if we were having coffee! What would you tell me? Leave me a comment!
Thanks for reading!

I’m with you on Instagram, it has become a chore to me. I do like taking photos as well but at the right moment, not because I feel the need to post something. San Antonio is amazing but Arizona is as well – tough call but happy house hunting 😉

Oh yes, it’s so stressful sometimes! Insta is too much haha. And I think I should probably visit both before deciding haha! They both sound like fun places!

What’s a dolce latte? Hope you feel better soon! It’s amazing the amount of programmes libraries run, such a good community spirit 🙂 Instagram can be staged and there does seem to be a certain aesthetic lots of accounts go for but just be yourself and your followers appreciate that. I share all sorts of photos and personally I think that’s the best way 😀

I can’t remember what the barista said it was exactly but it’s kinda like a chai, just with the focus on sweet rather than spice! Libraries are just amazing, I hope if I ever move my library has good programs as well. And I agree, the staged photos are nice to look at but I can’t connect with them the same way as a personal and authentic photo!

That drink sounds nice! Some libraries are better than others, I imagine some get more funding and support from local government etc.

Yeah that’s probably it! I know by me it is funded by taxes of those who live in the town and my town’s taxes are pretty high. I also heard on the radio that there are “regional” libraries that get more funding from the state governments as they are meant to reach more people. So I suppose it depends on that and how involved the people in the community are too!

Ahh being sick is the worst! Hope you’re feeling all better now! ♡ I agree about IG! I personally think it’s so boring & definitely fake. 😛 REI has so much nice winter clothes! You’ll love the store even if you’re not an outdoors type! & I hope the new BBQ place is amazing!
Have a wonderful October, Pamela!!!

I am much better now, thank you Hunida! And yes, the staged photos are pretty but I can’t with them! I have seen people post very similar staged photos over and over again, and hide the previous one so that people think it’s new. It’s so annoying! I still haven’t been to REI, I was going to go yesterday after work but I was so exhausted from the week that I just went straight home haha. But the new BBQ place was really good! The place looked so nice and the staff was amazing. I really want to go back soon.
Have an amazing October Hunida! 🙂

Haha that’s why I only follow food accounts on IG, they’re not as annoying but even some of those are staged & they’ll delete photos that don’t get enough likes all the time. I think that’s so sad?
Hope you make it into REI before the winter hits you!! & so glad you enjoyed the BBQ place! ❤

Haha you know, I’m thinking you might be right! I can look at any house with no concerns about budgets or costs for renovations or the neighborhoods and such but when I’m actually looking to move I’m sure I’ll have a ton of those constraints as well as facing the nightmare of actually moving from Illinois to Texas or wherever I end up! And thank you! I usually get so nervous for presentations but because of school I’ve gotten plenty of practice so I’m glad it has paid off haha! 🙂

Love your updates ❤ SO much to comment on. First, happy house hunting! So exciting!! Congrats on finishing up your leadership class- sounds like it was a wonderful class that friendships came form. Getting more involved in your library is such a great idea- I lived in the library as a kid, and ya know, I miss it! I never go anymore, but there are so many great opportunities and programs to get involved in. Thanks for the idea. Have a great weekend, girl! Sounds like so many fun things are happening!

Hehe, thank you! I love looking at homes and imagining what it could be someday! And it was such a great class, I really wish we still had a few sessions. Even though it was exhausting at the time it was very much worth it and the classmates made it even better! I do hope you can start going to more things at your library. Honestly the main thing that stops me from going to more things is that I’m living in the same town I grew up with and I’d hate to see someone from high school or something haha! But I haven’t seen anyone I know yet and they were never really the type of people that I would find there I don’t think so I’m getting more comfortable there! Hope you’re having a great weekend Mackenzie! 🙂

Cute sum-up of your September, Pam. If we were having coffee, I would ask you if you are you considering shifting homes soon? The march up to this season has been pretty happening at your end. Mine has been okay and I cannot wait for the colours to change, that there is the whiff of festivities already, and I cannot help feeling like a child at this time of the year. xx

I think it’ll be awhile before I make any more drastic changes in my life but I do want to move in about 4-5 years I think! My dad said if I wanted to stay in the area I could buy the house from him but it’s much to big for me alone and I do want to move out of state, so it wouldn’t work for me. I’m slowly getting into the end of the year sort of mood, and the chilly weather here is helping it along!

Hope you are feeling better now from your illness!! You’ve been so busy in September! Glad that you enjoyed house hunting even if you don’t intend on buying a house soon and that you enjoyed spending time with people xx
