If We Were Having Coffee – April 2018

Hi everyone! Grab a coffee and let’s chat?

I know a lot of people have stopped doing these posts but I still really like it and I usually have a few people say they like this format so I’m going to keep doing them.

Today I am going to have an iced cinnamon almond milk macchiato. I tried this on a whim going through the drive thru at Starbucks and now I’m obsessed!

So grab your drink, get comfy, and let’s talk life!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I have been making a big effort to clean up my room and home office every weekend. I’m a messy person but I giving cleaning a shot. While I do well at it I know I also just have too many items and need to get rid of a lot. But that is such a huge undertaking that I think I will actually leave that until after the semester ends.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I feel like I’m finally getting some good friends. I have been careful about calling people “friends” after several bad friendships but the people I have around me now are great. And not even around me physically either. Some are friends I’ve never met in person and just have online friendships with (mostly bloggers but not all) and I love it.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I want to redo some aspects of my home office decor. And watching home office tours on YouTube isn’t helping!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you all about how I need Villanova to beat the Kansas Jayhawks, Loyola to beat Michigan, then Loyola to beat Villanova to win my work March Madness bracket. Any other result and I will lose. Yikes!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how people have really been bothering me lately. Just as a whole. For example when I ask people at work to help me troubleshoot something they don’t listen while I’m talking and then say “I don’t understand”. Well then pay attention! Or I try to show them what is happening and they’re like “did you try this?” And when I say yes they insist on watching me do it. Obviously if I did it already then it won’t work and now it’s just a waste of my time! I wish people would effing listen!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I have started investing through an app a friend told me about. It’s interesting and I am happy I’m being more proactive about my finances at last!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I think I have finally figured out what I need for my wall in my home office decor wise. So I found some wall art that isn’t on sale yet and I think it’s smaller than I wanted so I will need to get two or wait to find something similar but larger. But if they’re a decent size I’ll be able to make it work. On another note, I am actually regretting not buying a vintage American flag I found a few years ago at an antique shop. I could have used that on the wall! This new idea is super different but it would have saved a lot of decor stress. ( First world problems, I know.)

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I have started waking up at 5:30am on Saturdays as if it’s a week day and I need to go to work. Normally I sleep in but now I’m finding I can’t. This morning I gave up trying to sleep and just watched Netflix. I think it’s a sign I’m getting old.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how excited I am to be back in Houston in April! It’s for work so it’s not like I will be able to see much besides the immediate area around my hotel but I am just happy to be able to go again.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I grabbed my guitar that I have had for years but never learned to play and attempted lesson #1. I know how to read music already as I played flute for over a decade and it was a fun challenge to learn how to play the notes. I think I know G, B, A, C, and D. Also the guitar is 100% NOT tuned properly. But it’s fun and I am going to try to keep practicing.

So that’s what I would share over a cup of coffee with you. What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I LOVE these (and still have to done my own post, but I NEED too!) I have been having Spring cleaning fever too. I love that you are finding your “people” 🙂 It really does make all the difference being surrounded by kind supportive people. Good luck with your brackets! I don’t follow basketball, but I knows many people who get invested in it:) And that is so exciting you re going to Houston! I hope you have a blast! Enjoy your coffee ;p AND your weekend ❤

    • That’s great! I’ve been slowly making my way through my mountains of laundry. It takes forever because I keep forgetting I’m doing laundry 😂 Thanks for stopping by and hope you got a ton done!

  2. Sounds like you’ve realised a few important things and you’re putting them into action, particularly the first point about cleaning. Sleeps ins are nice but sometimes the day can feel wasted if you sleep in for too long 🙂

    • Yeah it’s so much nicer working and lounging in a clean space! Hopefully I can keep it up! And yes, I try to get up pretty early so I won’t feel like the day was wasted but 5:30am is too much for me! Maybe like 7:30 would be better. 😂

  4. That flavour sounds so good!! I actually haven’t been to Starbucks in such a long time! I’m the same when it comes to cleaning. Lately though I’ve been doing a good job of vacumming, cleaning surfaces and tidying up every two weeks 😀 Don’t know how long I’ll keep it up for!

  6. If we’re having coffee, I’d tell you how I decided to wake up 5:30 every morning to catch up on school work.
If we’re having coffee, I’d tell you how I love your blog.
If we’re having coffee, I’d tell you how I’ve kept up with my workout and diet without any fallouts for a month now. Progress 😁

    • Oh geez! Haha 5:30 is such a popular time haha. If I wanted to do school stuff before work I would have to get up at like 4 since I have quite a drive haha. 😅I love that you can do that though!
And thank you!!! I’m so glad you are enjoying it!
Now that’s impressive! Keep it up!!!!

  7. I’ve been wanting to try that iced cinnamon almond milk macchiato but I was nervous lol I’ll have to try it next time I go to Starbucks!
That sounds annoying about work, how they don’t listen & make you do things in front of them that you’ve already tried. Ugh. What’s the app you’re using called for investing? Hope you find what you’re looking for your home office! 😄 I’m glad you’re still doing these posts, I love ’em!

    • Haha you should! It’s a good drink haha. And yeah but I have been able to do it back to them recently as payback 😂 so it’s worked out in the end. I’m using Acorns. I don’t have much in there but it’s still fun haha. And I think I found something I like but I am just not 100% convinced! Thank you! I’m glad you love them! 😀

  8. I would tell you that I am planning to pick up on my guitar lessons from Adi when we buy a new guitar here. Cannot wait to 🙂 The last I remember is a middle-aged chap who insisted making his students sit on the floor and learn strumming! All I remember are pins and needles in my legs at the end of every session.
Also, it is real cool that you have started investing money! xx
