My Travel Makeup and Skin Care!

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my makeup and skin care that is going with me to Mexico!

I have so many items I’m concerned I’ve overdone it.

So I’m leaving to Mexico in a little over 24 hours at the time if writing this but when you read it I will (hopefully) already be there! (It’s supposed to snow tomorrow night. Yikes!)

It’s only supposed to be a little bit and it keeps being moved back so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh I do want to say that I will not have a post on Friday. I’m terribly sorry, I’d meant to type something up but I’ve had a lot of homework and I’ve prioritized that. I actually didn’t get anywhere near as much done as I’ve tried to do so I’m traveling with my laptop as well. I’m trying not to beat myself up about it. Key word, trying! But I will make an effort to at least have an outline done when I get off the plane (although I will probably sleep since the flight is at midnight – let’s be real too), and a rough draft done before I get on the plane back. Then I can edit on the plane and do any last minute research on Monday before it’s due on Tuesday. I’ll likely need Monday to catch up on any more work either class that we’ll have.

Anyway I have two bags I’m taking. One is an actual makeup bag and the other is my liquids bag.

I’ve got a ton in both. Really for five days I think I’m exaggerating a bit.

First up, I’m taking the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in Sand with my Smashbox Photo Finish primer. I also bought a travel sized Kat von D Lock-It Concealer (in the medium shade, I believe it matches my full sized version but naturally I forgot to double check before closing everything up). I’m taking a sample of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara and a sample of the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye. I also have a travel sized Batiste dry shampoo but I’m quite nervous about this. I was under the impression you couldn’t fly with cans like this but then I checked the TSA website and the airlines website and the Batiste website and they all said travel size was fine but if they make me throw it out then I won’t be upset about it because I’m highly skeptical. Oh I also have the sample of the Yves Saint Ives Non Paris perfume. A new favorite is the Belief True Cream and that’s coming too. Oh and a sample of an Urban Decay lipgloss (again, forgot to check the shade…).

Some samples that I have actually never tried are coming to. I’m taking the Meyer’s Clean Day Body Wash, Sunday Riley C.E.O Serum, Fresh Sugar lip balm, and La Roche-Posay Cleanser. I also have a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer because I do not want to get sick. I’m so close to bringing a mask on the plane it’s not even funny. Oh and a sample of the Sensodyne Pro-Namel Toothpaste.

In the clear bottles/jar I have some shampoo, setting spray, and some moisturizer with SPF. The shampoo is Suave daily clarifying, the setting spray is the Urban Decay All-Nighter, and the moisturizer is the Eucerin with SPF.

Almost done! I have a few full sized items. I have the Trestique lipstick I got in a past FabFitFun box, Benefit Goof Proof Eye Brow pencil, Besame Brightening Powder, Naked Basics, Naked Flushed, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer, plus a face mask, wipes, and make up removing wipes. Plus a few brushes and toothbrush. Plus I’ve since added items like nausea meds (just in case), tummy meds (also just in case), pain meds (because super just in case), a ton of tissue (because there’s never any toilet paper anywhere), and probably a few more things I’m forgetting I packed.

Oh and contacts. Fun story, I nearly forgot to pack contacts. Oh that would have been so bad!

Geez, it kind of sounds like I’m moving! (I’m not!)

So let me know, do you also travel with a ton of make up and skin care? What’s your travel must-have?

Thanks for reading!

  1. The better than sex mascara and the smashbox primer are always in my must haves. I have a travel size primer that never leaves my travel bag! I ran out of my BTS but I have been LOVING the loreal lash paradise which has been a godsend to my wallet!

  2. All that stash of skincare and make-up and then to end up without your contacts would have been anti-climactic, eh? I too like travelling with my entire paraphernalia which annoys Adi to no end because they do add all that extra weight. Nowadays I am trying to keep it slightly toned down, ‘slightly’ being my keyword. Hey but you have the most gorgeous time in Mexico with family and inhale a few tacos for me too. xx

  3. I think that is more than reasonable to travel with!! I travel with way too much but my skin likes to go nuts when I am travelling. I hope you have so much fun – my coworkers and I all have vacation fever, definitely jealous ❤

  4. I’m leaving in a week, but I’m trying my best to leave most of my make-up at home since I’ll be outside in the sun most of the time. But I’m sure I’ll bring a few things that I wear daily. I end up bringing just as many meds as I do make-up for most trips. I get super paranoid about it. Have fun in Mexico! I can’t wait to leave this IL snow and cold next week.

  5. Have fun I hope you see some wonderful sights in mexico!!

I don’t normally take too much makeup with me when I go abroad as its nice to have fresh skin, but getting dolled up once in a while has to be done 🙂 xxx

    • Thank you! I saw so many fun things! Haha I did have quite a few travel days within the trip so I didn’t wear makeup on those days but mostly I did have at least the tinted moisturizer on. Lightweight, looks good, and has SPF! 😀

  6. Have a wonderful time in Mexico. It will be nice and warm and away from the snow. Lol I take very little. As my onboard bag has all my medications in it. Lipstick, face powder, eyeliner, lip liner, perfume, moisturizer for my face and one for my body. Oh and lip balm…but then it might change next year…lol

    • I did and it was amazing! I stayed with family while I was there. When I was in Morelia I stayed with members of my dad’s family and in Mexico City I stayed with members from my mom’s side! They’re amazing hosts. 😊
