My January Sephora Play Box!

Hi everyone! Today I’m showing you what I got in my Sephora Play Box, along with some travel plans I have so far for 2018 and 2019. I know it might sound like I’m super on top of my travel plans just from that sentence but just you wait.

Before I start with that, I do want to note that I did miss my Monday post this week. The reason for that is homework. I finished the in-class portion of my J-term class but I have three assignments due on Saturday morning. I’m mostly done with them but not quite yet. I’ve finished the stats portion on Excel, but I need to do a short write-up for one of them once I figure out how to do the next portion. That’s where I’ll leave that for now, since I plan to do a full post on Friday about this class. Technically it’s the end of a term so might as well!

Anyway, back to my unboxing! Let’s start with the bag. If you’ve seen one of these posts about the Sephora Play Box or gotten one yourself you’ll know that it’s $10 for six samples and each box comes with a bag designed for their box theme. This month is “Happy YOU Year” and the accompanying pamphlet is about “Monthly Challenges” to meet. This month it’s supposed to be about drinking water which apparently is supposed to be half of your weight. That seems like an excessive amount of water and considering the month is nearly over I did not hit that amount every day. But I do tend to drink quite a bit of water actually and have been drinking more lately.

Next month is a commitment to use lip products so I can get on board with that!

As for the items? The first item I pulled out was the GlamGlow SuperCleanse Clearing Cream-to-Foam Cleanser. I thought I had tried this before but I think I was mixing it up with the SuperMud which I did not like. I’ll try this but I haven’t had much luck with GlamGlow in the past.

Next is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter in Opal. I haven’t tried a liquid highlighter yet so I’m excited to try this one out.

I also received the Nars Lipstick in Orgasm. Despite a scandalous name it is a peach-pink and I think I’ll probably travel with this one (more on that in a bit!) as it’s such a small size. I do need to try the color first though to make sure I can wear it.

The next sample is the Clinique Pep-start Eye Cream. I don’t like Clinique products so I was also disappointed by this one. I’ve tried quite a few Clinique items before so I’m not hopeful about this one and I might donate it.

Another item I’ll likely travel with is the Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment. I haven’t tried this before but it sounds amazing and I have wanted to try it. Plus I know I’ll need a good lip balm for the plane!

Last is the bonus item, which is always a perfume I believe. I received the Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Eau de Parfum. I just sprayed it on and I couldn’t figure out what the scent was, but it turns out it’s strawberry! I looooove strawberries so this is my new favorite perfume ever probably. I will probably take this sample with me on my upcoming trip as well or I might go to Sephora and pick up the travel size. We shall see!

Okay, now the promised travel talk! I had started a post on Monday for this put because my classmates and I jumped on a conference call to go over the homework I didn’t finish it. Plus only one of them is actually set in stone, so I felt silly writing about “possible” trips that might never materialize.

So my first trip this year will be next month to Mexico! If you were around in 2016 you might remember my #PamelaInMexico posts. Well I’m super excited that I’ll be able to bring back my hashtag (I’m super hashtag obsessed I know) next month. I’m going to be traveling the second week of February which is super close. This is quite a last minute trip I suppose. I just bought the plane tickets for myself, my mom, and my sister over the weekend. My mom is flying in less than 10 days and my sister and I will meet her the week after, stay for about five days, and then we’ll fly back all together!

I got myself and my sister seats together to Mexico, and then the three of us have a row to ourselves on the way back. Alas it is at the back of the plane but at least we get to sit together. My dad is going to stay home as he doesn’t like to leave the house alone and we don’t have family close by that can visit everyday to make sure it’s okay. He also just bought a truck (a very nice truck that he does not let me drive unfortunately) so he keeps saying he doesn’t have money to go. He’s not too bummed about it though since he loves to stay home.

The goal of these trips is always to see family. My grandfather has no idea yet that we’re going and he’ll be so happy to see us. Plus my sister hasn’t been in over a decade so she’s excited and I always love to get to know the country where my parents came from.

So that’s the trip that is 100% for sure going to happen! I’m so excited! I’m planning the usual posts, the what’s in my makeup bag, my outfits, what I did each day of the trip, and I think that’s all I have planned so far. Any post requests are always welcome so if you think of something let me know!

So this trip is basically Wednesday-Monday in February because I want to miss as little school as possible. I will have to miss one of my two classes on the Tuesday night as my flight is at midnight on Wednesday so I need to leave to get to the airport 3 hours before (international flights!) but I’m going to email my professor and a classmate said she’d get me up to speed upon my return. I also asked my coworkers to cover and they arranged their time off requests around mine! They’re amazing and I’m so lucky to have such a great supportive group around me.

As for the trips that might happen, I have a few! The first one is one that is pretty much 88% happening. I have the opportunity again to travel for work! If you’ll remember from last year, I went to Houston, Texas for an event for work. I get to go to the same event (FIRST Robotics Competition) as last year and I was just asked by my department director if I could go again. I said yes immediately! I’m planning the same types of posts about this trip as above. I think it’ll be slightly different because this is a work trip but I worry it might be mostly the same so we shall see how I can make them different.

This trip is in April and I will miss both of my classes for one week on this trip. It is for work so my professors will be understanding but I do feel bad about it. Thank goodness for my classmate who will help me stay caught up! Three cheers for bringing back #PamelaInTexas too!

A trip that has already been nixed is a trip to see my bestie in Phoenix, Erin. We each bought Taylor Swift tickets in our respective cities and agreed we’d try to make it to one and sell the other tickets. Unfortunately her tickets are for May 8th in Phoenix, which is the first concert on the tour but it’s also the night of one of my finals so I cannot go to see her. I wanted to go to Phoenix and still plan to go but I don’t know when!

A trip that I need to put more effort into planning is to Madison, Wisconsin. It’s about two hours away from me so it would be a weekend trip I think. I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to see the musical Fun Home there. I missed it when it was in Chicago and since an actress I like will play the main character in Madison’s production I wanted to go. She said she would go too so I think that would be a fun trip with a lovely friend! I believe this would be in the summer but I need to start planning this!

And lastly, a trip I would love to actually plan and go on is a European trip with my aforementioned classmate! She and I really got to know each other over this j-term as we’d go to lunch together during the breaks on class days. I mentioned that I’d studied abroad in Barcelona and traveled to Venice and Paris during my spring break there and she was so interested and asked tons of questions. She then said that we should go after graduation next year and we both thought that would be a great idea! I would love to do a trip and she agreed that we should so hopefully we’ll make this happen! I do want to see Barcelona again, and I loved Spain so maybe I could also add a few days in Madrid. She wants to go to Italy so I could finally go to Rome too. There’s so many possibilities!

And that’s the end of this super long post! I suppose I could have done a separate travel post but there will be quite a few of those coming up. So let me know what kind of travel posts you want to see and if you want an update on any of the products in my box! I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading!

  1. It’s so nice to get a sniff of new air somewhere else. You’re going to have one blast of a year. It’s nice you’ve found a friend who shares the same love of travel. Can’t wait to see all the pretty pictures.

  2. I’m jealous of your box! I want that lip balm so bad. I also got that Clinique thing and I don’t think you’d like it (I sure didn’t lol) so yeah throw that in the donation pile! πŸ˜‚
I’m so excited to hear about your trips to Mexico and Texas! I am also flying out at midnight on Tuesday/Wednesday morning but I’m going to NY lol.
