Hi everyone! Today, let’s grab a coffee and have our first coffee chat of 2018! I know it’s still 2017 but just pretend we’re sooooo busy that we had to do it early so that we could fit it in!
Today’s post will just be one as I’m not doing a yearly recap of our coffee sessions. For one, I have only been doing these a few months I believe. Plus, these posts are very much about what I’m feeling and thinking now rather than reflective pieces for me so I want to continue focusing on the next month rather than the past year. However, tomorrow will be two posts again for my books of this month and of the past year. It will be fun!
Okay, so I’ve started getting free Starbucks as a part of my Barnes & Noble membership. I haven’t been able to get to a store every month but this month I did and while I ordered a grande the assistant manager convinced me to upgrade to a venti as I was getting it for free anyway. He was great! Anyway, I ended up with a venti iced chai tea latte so that’s what I’ll have today as well! I didn’t take a picture of it so enjoy this photo from a previous chai I got below. and look at that adorbs snowman cookie! And a bottle of water because I think I’m getting dehydrated.
So let’s sit and chat, shall we?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how amazing this week off work has been. I mean, I’ve had to work 2 hours and 17 minutes from home over the past two days but that’s nothing compared to the 40+ I’m used to. I really, really needed a break. It’s been so nice to sit in bed and read in the morning before grabbing my phone to read some blogs and comments or flicking through Instagram. I’ve also had time to film so YouTube videos (be excited!) and I edited one already. I’m also writing so many posts and getting so much done!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that despite getting so much done, I need to desperately do laundry. I hate laundry. Normally I pay my mom to do it (yeah, I KNOW but I HATE doing it!) but this week since I’m home I’d rather do it myself. It’s just such a hassle of lugging it all down to the basement, putting it in, remembering I did that an hour later (normally it’s more like three hours later), switching it, hauling it back upstairs once it’s dry, folding it, and hanging/putting it away. Ugh. I’m tired just thinking about it.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how much I’m dreading statistics next month. I did terribly in that class in undergrad but at the same time, I get to use Excel (which I strangely love to do) and I do a lot of stats in my current job anyway, so hopefully it won’t be so bad. However the schedule is three weekends, Saturday AND Sunday, 9am-4pm. I will be making Starbucks runs at least once a day, and I will be sooooooo sad when class starts. My dad started to complain about how long the class was on each day (as if he’s even going to be the one stuck in the classroom!) until I pointed out I’m paying over two grand for this one class so in my opinion the longer I’m in class the better. Gotta get my money’s worth! Now I just have to survive three weekends of this class…
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I really would like a new phone right about now. I’m thinking the Google Pixel 2 because I’m so totally over the iPhones. I totally called it that Apple was slowing down phones and purposefully messing with the battery life since day 1 and even before it was confirmed I wanted to switch because my work friends John and Amy both have Pixels and I want one! Plus I had giant issues when my dad’s iPhone broke a few months back. The issue now is that I have Sprint and they’re only on Verizon (which I HATE). I think I can buy an unlocked phone for full price directly from Google and use it but when I called Sprint the lady on the phone barely understood what I was saying and then said it’s not possible so I’m still confused if I can or not. If anyone knows, please tell me.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how my grandfather learned to video chat on a phone! Apparently he asked my aunt how she videoed with my mom the other day and she pointed out what to press, so he pressed it and called my mom via video (I think via Facebook Messenger). I loved seeing him and he was so happy to see us. He seemed to proud of himself for getting it to work and so happy to be able to talk to us.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I already took down my little Christmas tree in my home office and now my wall looks super bare and lonely. I think I need wall art and that makes me feel so grown up and fancy.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how my dad got a new truck and he refuses to let me borrow it. In fact, he barely drives it. He prefers to drive my mom’s car so that his truck stays perfect in the driveway. He’s silly.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how I really wish I could put together a subscription box for some reason. I love getting them but I think it would be fun to put one together so others could enjoy. It must be like how I put together the spa basket for the holiday raffle at the office party so I think it would be a great time!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how I love it when I find kids shoes that don’t look like kids shoes in my size. I have tiny feet so I can wear girls shoes (size 4 or 5 in girls, 6.5 in women’s) but usually it’s so painfully obvious that the shoes are meant for a child that I can’t take advantage of this. Today I found a pair of girl’s boots in my size that look like something I could wear so I bought them! And since boots were buy one get one half off, I bought a pair of women’s boots as well. I’m all set for next year’s winter!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how excited I am to see what 2018 brings. So many things happened in 2017 that I hadn’t planned at all when the year started. I went onsite for an event for work in Houston, got a new position at work, became a Broadway in Chicago subscriber, went back to school for my MBA completing my first semester with straight A’s, started a YouTube channel after years of wanting to do so, and so much more! If all these amazing things happened in 2017, I can’t wait to see what will happen in 2018!
So, let me know what you would tell me this month if we were having coffee! I’d love to know!
Thanks for reading!

Good luck with statistics! The only way I could get through that class in undergrad was by cheating–not off of other people, just by keeping a formulas notecard on my calculator case… Still not something to be proud of, I know!
I hate doing laundry, too, but unfortunately my mom won’t take my money and do it for me (believe me, I’ve tried). I also hate how slow my iPhone 6 is now! Sure, my phone is old, but it wasn’t this slow pre-iPhone 8 and X, and the battery wasn’t so quick to die like it is now. I will admit, the Google Pixel 2 commercials really sell it, but I just signed up for Apple Music, so I’ll have to see if I can still get Apple Music on a Google phone before I purchase.

Ours were open books and that still didn’t help! It was terrible! Ugh I’m doing laundry today and it sucks. I hate it so much. I agree, it’s old but the phone slowed only after the 8 and X, and even my friend with a 7 noticed it. I’m so over apple and I really want a Google Pixel now!!! But I just paid my next semester so I’m going to wait a little bit.

Same… Phones are so expensive now, I can’t even dream about getting a new one!

Ugh yes! In some cases the phones are the same price as a laptop. It’s ridiculous!

We wear the same size shoe! I love being able to shop in the kid section for less. We’re two lucky chicks. Sprint is the ruin of mankind. They practically turned me into a raving lunatic at least once a month. They tormented my life until I eliminated them from said life. I promised them vengeance and here it is. They suck.
Now that that’s over with… I have no clue how you’re able to get so much done. You’re filthy rich and you have a clone. I’m sure of it.

Hahaha kids shoes rock. The price difference is nice to take advantage of. Which carrier do you have now? We’ve already switched from Verizon and I hate them but we’re starting to hate Sprint too because they keep adding charges to our account. My dad barely uses his phone and it’s connected to the WiFi but they tried to say that he was using tons of data so they charged us. He says all he does is make calls and check the weather.
Hahahahaha more like I have no bills except my student loans and no friends nearby that demand my time I think! 😂

It’d be great if we could just communicate through brainwaves and forget all these middlemen.

Good luck in your stats class next month! I left team iPhone recently and I bought a Note 8. It is so amazing in case you can’t get a Pixel with your plan, I highly recommend the Note!
Your grandpa sounds so cute with the Video messenger hahaha.
Putting together a sub box would be so fun. You could sell them on Etsy!!
I am also guilty of buying children’s shoes all the time hahah I can fit in a girl’s 4 but 5’s are always too big. (I wear a 6 in women’s). Glad you found some boots that weren’t so childish lol!

Thanks!! I am soooo ready to leave the iPhone. My dad has a note (in addition to his personal iPhone) through his work and he loves it so I would consider it if I couldn’t do the pixel. Hahaha he’s so adorable. He was so proud of himself!
Omg I could totally sell them on Etsy! I’m totally going to consider that after the stats class. Oh that would be amazing!
Yeah size 5 is a tad too big for me but 4 is a little snug. I’m right in between! Hahaha kids shoes are fun to shop for when not super colorful and glittery (I mean, I love those things too but I’m trying not to be so obvious!)

Yeah, the iPhone is so boring compared to the other cool new phones! Hopefully you get the Pixel!!
That WOULD be awesome if you were able to sell boxes on Etsy!! ;-D
That’s weird!! Because usually 5’s are too snug for me and sometimes 4’s are a bit big for me. What the! Lol. I know what you mean about the glittery shoes!!

Too funny about the laundry, I think it’s the household chore I dislike the least! Now dishes, on the other hand…I loathe having soapy hands! 😛
