My 2017 September Sephora Play & Fall FabFitFun Box!

Hi everyone! I have two new unboxings for you! The September Sephora Play Box and the Fall FabFitFun Box! Since I didn’t post Style yesterday I thought I’d do it today, plus I got my FabFitFun box today anyway! And although it’s not a Beauty post day, I thought I’d add it in here anyway.

Also, thank you to everyone who’s sympathized with my Best Buy/Apple/Verizon Issues from yesterday/this past month. A not-so-quick update, I talked to sooooo many people today on this. From Best Buy, I talked to not only the store manager, but got the phone number to a district manager as well. The store manager called because of the Apple manager from yesterday. I got the district manager’s number after my 20th or so call to Best Buy customer service. The district manager had another manager call me back who deals more with Apple so both he and the store manager are following up with me on Monday. So is the Apple manager too, although she is mostly just making sure Best Buy follows up, not actually trying to find information. And I also went to a Verizon store and confirmed that I did indeed buy a new phone. The guy there was blown away by how crazy the story is! He had to do a lot of digging around to find the info for me as we left Verizon over a year ago, so it wasn’t easy to access the old account. Of course, this was only after I insisted he check and repeated what the manager I spoke to on the phone had said about 5 times as well as a short version of the story. But still.

Okay, so that’s that. Let’s move onto the boxes!

Sephora Play – September 2017

I expected to get this box much sooner than I actually did. I got it on Wednesday I believe (it’s been a looooong week) but I was at a work event so I wasn’t able to come home and post about it. Which is fine because I think everyone liked my Skin Care Routine just fine!

So, confession time, I think I might cancel this one. It’s cheap, at $10 per box, but it’s only samples and most of them are actually skin care, which I’ve been having issues with (see Skin Care Routine linked above for more on this). I haven’t quite decided yet. But it is fun to get little surprises as it’s the only box I order that I don’t know what it contains until I open it.

Anyway, back to the contents. The bag is a hot pink drawstring bag that says “a Change of Face” on it. I love the pink but I have to agree with people that they feel so flimsy. My previous Sephora Play Box had a bag that felt more sturdy and the Luxury Play Box had a great bag. But this one just felt… cheap. Well the box is only $10 so that would explain that.

Now for the products! First item is the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow. It’s in color number 5 “Deep”, which I haven’t looked up yet. Please hold. I’m back! Unlike Best Buy customer service (LOL okay I’ll stop). Number 5 is the dark brown/black so I’m going to go ahead and say it’s very much the best option as I have black eyebrows. I did actually have a Gimme Brow back in the day but somehow didn’t like it and returned it. That was years ago and I have actually wanted to try it again so I’m excited to see how it works out!

Next is the Sephora Collection Contour Eye pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof. Wow, what a name! It’s in the color “Black Lace”. I haven’t worn eyeliner in forever, so I’m sure my winged eyeliner skills have basically disappeared. I was really good at it too! Ah well, maybe I’ll try some eyeliner with this one, but probably not a wing.

Then I got a jar of Algenist POWER Recharging Night Pressed Serum. I might try this for my neck or something, but I’m still not using anything but cleanser on my face. I am really seeing a huge improvement and don’t want to risk it.

I was so excited to see a tiny Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in “Amulet”. It looks beautiful in the photo and the tube so I can’t wait to wear it. I’m a huge Urban Decay fan so I’m sure I’ll love it.

I hadn’t heard of this next product, Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb, which is listed as a moisturizer. It’s oil-free, which is what my current one is and it is working great so I’m excited to try this during the day!

And lastly, I got samples of IGK Hot Girls Shampoo and Conditioner. They seem cool but my hair leans on the oily side (very heavily) and it’s a hydrating shampoo, so I’m not sure if I’ll use it. I don’t use conditioner so this might be one for my mom. Speaking of, her birthday is coming up, I have to find something for her!

So I guess I’m off to Sephora sometime soon to redeem my 50 Beauty Insider Points and get my mom a gift! Each box comes with a card preloaded with 50 Beauty Insider Points that you earn when you buy something. You can buy anything so my suggestion would be just get like a face mask for $6 or something if you don’t need anything and get your points. Yeah, I’d totally do that. Sorry not sorry. You also get an invite for subscriber only events but none are close enough to me to make it worth going to. I might give this box one or two more months before I make up my mind if I will cancel or not.

Fall FabFitFun Box

So a few of my coworkers (okay only two) got this box in the Summer and I decided I wanted to get the Fall box. I used a code I found on social media for $10 off so I paid around $40 for it. It’s a quarterly box and I was excited to see what I got! (I somewhat avoided spoilers but not really.) While I’m not sponsored at all, I do have my own link to share with you in case you want the box! Click the following link so you can get $10 off your first FabFitFun box if you’d like! (Also I get something if you use my link, I think it’s also $10 credit towards their shop or towards a box or something. So help me out if you’re interested in the box please!)

I had to fight with myself to keep from tearing it open! I was so excited! The box came with a newsletter “Fall in Love” (cute!) and a flyer about Unicef, which the box partnered with. And since there were too many items and they were too big to fit in one photo, you get more photos!

First I pulled out this cute Coxet Wire Heart Ceramic Jewelry Holder. I have a few already but I’m sure I’ll find some use for it! It is valued at $33 in the newsletter.

I’m not quite sure what cuticles are to be honest… Some part-time beauty blogger I am! But I did get this Deco Miami Lavender Cuticle Oil and it came in such a cute box! In the newsletter it’s valued at $12.50.

Then I got a few more beauty products. I got the Trestique Matte Color & Shiny Balm Lip Crayon in “Tuscan Wine & Syrah Balm”. The description says it’s a 2-in-1 product because it is a color crayon for lips and a BB lip balm as well.

So each box lets you pick a few items out. I picked out the Molr Dental Club Organic Carbon + Coconut Teeth Whitening Powder and Toothbrush. It’s a charcoal toothpaste and since my teeth aren’t very white, I’m looking forward to trying it. It’s valued at $43.95. The other option had been an apple cider vinegar hair rinse.

The next product I pulled out was the Whish Beauty Renewing Mud Mask. Everyone knows I’ve been loving my masks lately so I think I’ll try it this weekend. It says it is an exfoliating mask as well so I’m curious about it. It’s valued at $48.

The second item I picked out was this beanie! I was surprised when I opened the box for two reasons. One, for some reason I thought I was betting the belt, which was the other option for this. Two, once I realized I had picked the beanie I was surprised I had gotten the black one instead of the dusty rose. Either way, I got the Jetset Diaries Cable Knit Beanie in “Black”. I mentioned in my Fall Fashion that I really wanted to try wearing beanies this year so I can’t wait! It’s valued at $49.

DSC00958

I finally own a hot/cold pack! The next item is the Mytagalongs Hot & Cold Gel Pack and I can’t wait to try it out! I always have cramps before my period and I also get a lot of shoulder aches so I’m looking forward to trying this out. It’s valued at $15.

Oh there’s the Molr toothbrush, it was at the bottom of the box and didn’t make it out in time to be in the photo with the paste.

There was a sponsored item in the box, and I’m not sure if this is normal or not as this is my first box, but it is the Cottonelle Cleaning Cloths. I think it’s supposed to be like a wipe but for your bum? I’ll have to investigate this further. No value was listed for this product.

One of the items I was most excited for though was this Mer-Sea & Co. Scarf. It looks so cozy! I opened this box when I was sweating though so I didn’t quite appreciate it as much at first but it’s so soft and cozy. There were three colors and I got the brown/coppery colored one, which I love. The company is stated to have teamed up with water.org to get clean, safe water to women and their families in developing countries which is amazing! This scarf is valued at $98 and is the most expensive item in the box.

I was so happy to see this Private Party Gym Bag in my box. There were three options and I really wanted the “Meet Me at the Barre” bag because of the ballet reference. I was really hopeful that I would get this one but I of course knew that it wasn’t guaranteed so I tried prepare myself for disappointment. Turns out I somehow got the one I wanted so at least the whole world isn’t conspiring against me! I did hear this bag was quite small and it does seem small in person but I don’t think I’ll have any issues with that. This bag is valued at $59.

Overall I was impressed with this box, although I haven’t seen much of what others got yet so I can’t compare. There is a survey you take when you sign up so they can try to send you items they think you’ll like the best. It’s a lifestyle box so it asks about everything, which is why I suspect I got the dance reference bag, because I must have answered I dance(d) in the survey during the fitness or hobbies sections. In total my box was valued at $386.45 (possible range of $377-392 depending on what boosts were picked) and I think it was well worth the price! I’m already looking forward to my Winter Box!

So let me know what you think of each of these boxes! Do you get either of these? Also I know I still owe you guys reviews on several products from the last few but let me know if there’s something you’re interested in seeing reviewed!

Thanks for reading!

  2. It looks like I need to take the plunge and buy one. I’m always impressed about the amount of products you get for the price. The products are good quality too, not cheap. The blanket looks so cozy.
