My August Favorites!

Hi everyone! So it’s time for my August Favorites! It honestly doesn’t feel like it’s close to the end of the month at all, it still feels like we’re about to start August! This time last month I had just been accepted into grad school. And this time last year I was off enjoying Mexico. And eight years ago I was starting my freshman year of college! How time flies.

Anyway, you’ll see more about what I’ve been up to in tomorrow’s post, but it’s been a nice month! I do feel like I’ve been more stressed this month. So there’s been a bigger need for stress relieving activities. I should probably turn that into a post!

I think my first favorite will have to be my MBA studies so far! I had orientation this month and my first class last night! I won’t go too much into orientation as I’ve talked a bit before on it and I have a video planned with more details about it.

I did have my first night of classes last night! I basically stepped onto campus, felt super old to be surrounded by young kids, yet awkward because I blend in perfectly with said kids, and class was exactly what you’d expect. And I got really hungry halfway through but decided to finish up this post for tomorrow instead of eat dinner. Priorities.

I’ve also recently gotten myself a new header for my blog! I had seen Katie‘s work already through a few of my blog friends and asked Katie if she could do one for me. Really all I told her was that I wanted my blog name on it and I wanted rose gold stars and this is what she came up with! I loved it immediately! I put it on my blog already and mentioned it before. Basically I felt that that when I changed my theme a few months back my baby blog became a toddler blog and now that I have a legit header my blog is headed off to preschool! My little blog is growing up!

Another favorite has been subscription boxes! I have been watching people get boxes for awhile and always loved seeing them get fun stuff in their subscriptions. I finally decided to try it out and it’s fun! It’s basically like getting little presents. That you had to buy yourself but still. Above is my Sephora Play Box/Bag that I got for August and if you want to see what I got click onto the linked unboxing post! I loved the items I got just by sight although I have yet to try them. I can’t wait!

The other subscription I got was the Target Beauty Box! I also did an unboxing for that box as well. I actually have tried two of these items. I already loved the face wipes so that didn’t really count (although I was out of these so it was such perfect timing to get more). I have been using the Dove dryspray deodorant. I like it but it contains aluminum which I’m trying not to use. I’ll use this up because I have it and I do like it but sadly I likely won’t repurchase.

Look at that! You got a mini review from me!

Long story short, I’m obsessed with Stella’s blog, Simply Stella, and with Stella herself. I feel okay saying this on my blog since I’m sure she knows this already. We have grand plans of being Champagne Ladies and going to musicals together someday! Anyway, I’ve linked the post where she talked about Tony Moly face masks above and where I first saw these. I bought two sheets and tried this one first, Skin Soothing Tea Tree Mask. I absolutely loved it and my skin does feel so much smoother than before I used it. I’ve been learning that my skin reacts really well to tea tree products so I am making an effort to try and find more products with tea tree in them. I will try the other Tony Moly mask as well as the orange one I got in my Target Beauty Box but do plan to repurchase after I’ve used those up.

I incorporated three new products in my nighttime routine (oooo another blog post idea, I’m full of them today!) and these should look familiar to you! I have been loving the No7 products I picked up, the Beautiful Skin Balancing Toner, Night Cream, and Eye Cream.

This poor little bottle. I have no idea what happened to it. I love the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray, and repurchased this after I tried a few other products that didn’t meet expectations. I am currently sitting in my break after class and my makeup from this morning only needed a little bit of retouching. Otherwise it still looked great and I think this spray is the main reason.

This Physician’s Formula mascara has also been a favorite. My mom got it for me as a birthday gift back in May and I finally got around to trying it. While the wand isn’t my favorite (much to big, I have little eyes) I like the mascara itself.

The Wet n Wild Photofinish concealer was a recommendation from a lovely Walgreens employee. I really have liked it and keep it with me in my bag for throughout the day. Plus it’s cruelty free and says so on the product! (Although I know you’re supposed to check that separately, which I do plan on doing at some point.)

Sneak peak into my product empties! I finished off this little sample of the Chloe perfume. I’m sad to have finished it. While I still have a ton of perfume left in the rollerball version I have I feel that one has expired as it smells more like pure alcohol, and not the yummy “weeeeee!” kind (over 21 or your country’s legal drinking age people will know what I mean). I don’t think I’ll repurchase as I have a ton of other samples and rollerballs and full sized fragrances to use up.

Okay, who else has been LOVING the new Taylor Swift single “Look What You Made Me Do”?? I loved it the moment I listened to it and then loved the video that premiered at the VMAs. Taylor is so awesome and creative, and throwing quite a bit of shade around. I am planning to get her album and hope to score tickets to her next tour whenever she announces it.

That’s really all I can think of for now! Let me know what you’ve been loving in the comments, I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Hahaha! Awww, I’m obsessed with your blog too 💚 We really need to get on that champagne and shows thing! I haven’t tried anything from No 7 but have been curious, good to know that you are liking them. Glad you are enjoying the masks too!!

  2. Last week, I started my final year of undergraduate school and a couple weeks earlier, I went to a wedding. At school, its been nice living in the suites even though I am on the third floor and requires more walking

    • Hahaha I was hoping Katie would do it in the background. Literally all I said was rose gold stars please! I wasn’t sure if she would do it as a boarder or what but I love how she did it!!!

  4. Subscription boxes are so good aren’t they?! I don’t think the two you mentioned are available here, but I get Lovelula (maonly skincare) and Latest in Beauty, where you choose your own products each month. Here are my August favourites if you’d like to have a look: https://unseen-beauty.com/2017/08/25/aug-favourits/
I’m looking forward to reading the reviews of the products when you’ve had the chance to use them all!
