If We Were Having Coffee – June 2017

Hi everyone! I’m sure you’ve seen a few of these posts around already and I’m excited to join in. I first saw this post on Natalie‘s blog and I’ve seen a few more since. I love these posts so much and I’m excited to add my own. I’m thinking I’ll do these once a month. I believe most people do theirs at the end of the month but I just couldn’t wait anymore!

And real quick, I recently hit 400 followers! Thank you so much to everyone who’s supported me thus far! To celebrate, I’m doing a bonus post this weekend in the form of a Q and A. If you have a Q for me, please go to my celebratory post from yesterday morning and leave me a comment! I’ll A it this weekend (I’m thinking tomorrow).

If we were having coffee, I’d have an iced chai tea latte. It’s so hot here in northern Illinois now, I feel like I’m melting! I’d also have a yummy coffee cake.

If we were having coffee, I’d for sure complain about how hot it is with you! And if you’re one of those weirdos like likes scorching hot weather I’d totally judge you but we’re friends so you knew to expect that! You’d also remind me that Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags Great America is open though and I’d start planning which swim suit I want to wear until you snap me out of it.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you all about how fun BirthMay was for me (again) and how pumped up that made me. Going into it I had serious doubts that anyone would enjoy it and worried that I’d get bored or my readers would get bored, or that I wouldn’t follow through. None of that happened, I had the best stats ever in the history of my blog and got nothing but great feedback for it. I feel like I could do anything now! YouTube? Probably! Newsletter? Sure! Go self hosted? Actually I do want to do that by the end of the year, so let’s hope that happens!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m super happy right now in my life. I’ve almost completed my grad school application, and I’m so optimistic I’ll be accepted. If not I might be more than a little upset but I’m not going to worry about that just yet. I also have so much to look forward to as my Broadway in Chicago subscription is starting up soon, so I’m going to have many musicals to see.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I adopted a little indoors plant!

If we were having coffee, we’d criticize the direction the American government is taking. The orange idiot in office cannot stop turning our amazing country into the laughing stock of the world and it seems that Congress thinks “what is the best course of action that will help the American people the most? I agree, let’s do the opposite of that then”. And can you believe how horrible the orange one’s response was after the London attack? Absolutely outrageous.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m sure having a wonderfully educated population would have helped. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the education I’ve had and I wish everyone had access to the same quality or much better.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that flowers are still ruling on my Instagram but honestly that’s taking up a lot of my life so it’s not really a “theme” it’s just my life!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I really want to do an escape room. I’ve taken to watching them on YouTube. (Thank you Geek & Sundry!)

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I signed up for an adult ballet class and I’m so excited! I already pulled out my ballet shoes that I bought a few years ago (with the intention of taking a class) and need to plan my outfit.

If we were having coffee, I’d also tell you how my parents drive me crazy sometimes. I love them a lot but they don’t seem to understand what I do. Well they don’t to be honest. My dad has no idea what a blog is or that a closed door to my home office means I’m trying to work on something. My mom will constantly come in and ask “are you busy?” Well I’m editing a photo for Instagram on one hand and right after than I need to edit my photos that I just took for my blog. I’m reading blog posts on one computer screen and then writing my posts on the other. Plus I’m trying to keep up with my YouTube videos from my iPad. Am I busy? Just a tad! But would I ever move out? Probably not. On top of not being able to afford it on my own I also would likely get terribly lonely. And I don’t do well with roommates. I have had the worst luck with most of mine.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you much I love my blog and how happy I am that I started it. I love the people I’ve gotten to know and I love how creative and awesome they are with their own blogs! I’d also loudly and proudly exclaim that I have 400 stalkers.

If we were having coffee, I’d take the moment to remind you that “there’s a million things I haven’t done, but just you wait!” (Hamilton lyrics are my life.) The best is yet to come!

And that’s my very first “If We Were Having Coffee” post! So tell me, what you would say if we were having coffee?

Thanks for reading!

    • Same here!!! I live in the midwestern region of the USA! I’m pretty much in the middle of the cities of Chicago and Milwaukee. Suburb life is all I’ve ever really know but I could probably live anywhere! My most memorable experiences usually revolve around my travels. I studied abroad in Barcelona and absolutely loved my time there! I was lost in Paris at 2am once as well 😂 You? 😀

      • That is pretty awesome! I live in the UK in the country of Norfolk, the land is very flat here and there are lots of farms. Norwich is the name of the city closest to me- 15 miles away. It must have been amazing to study in Barcelona 🙂

      • Oh we have small farms around me, especially when you go closer to Milwaukee than Chicago. We also have a flat area. Makes it tough when you decide you suddenly want to try rock climbing! 😂 Barcelona was amazing, I’m so happy I picked that city to go to. It ended up being just perfect for me. 😀

  5. I love these coffee posts! I thought they weren’t a thing anymore, but I’m glad the blogosphere is bringing them back aha, also I agree with you that mr. cheeto in office is making big decisions as if he was an actual cheeto. It’s a mess/: I’m glad you are taking up ballet! That’s so cool! I tried a couple years back and it’s hard work! Have fun(: ❤
