Hi everyone! So last week I did an Improbable Life Goals post and thought it was only fair to balance it out with actual goals!
I got such great support from many of you that read my Improbable Goals! So many comments were encouragement to go for a few of them. It was very lovely and kind feedback!
As for my Actual Life Goals, these are goals that I believe I can reach, some easier than others. You’ll see as I continue on but some are definitely long term goals. And while I believe I could reach them, I know I might not reach all of them.
Here we go!
Get an MBA
If you’ll remember, in March I decided to apply to grad school for my MBA. I am sad to say I have not yet done so, but I do plan to. If I don’t get in this year hopefully next! I honestly loved school and graduated college early with my BS in International Business. But I still feel like I’m missing something in my education.
Publish a book
I don’t know exactly what I’ll publish yet. To be honest I haven’t finished anything but I believe I could do this. Likely by self publishing but hey, a book is a book!
Start my own company
I have always wanted to do this. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and I’ve taken many entrepreneurship coursers so I know what needs to go into this. I used to want to set up my own hotel, but now that I work in the event industry and deal with hotels… I’m over that! So I don’t know yet what I want to start but I know it’ll happen eventually.
Make music
I played flute for over 10 years starting in middle school through college. I want to join a community band or something so I can play again! But lately I’ve wanted to take voice lessons, since singing sounds like fun. When it comes to singing though, I’m painfully shy and I would need to find a teacher that didn’t frighten me!
Run the Disney Princess Half Marathon
I know I said it was improbable that I’d run a marathon but I think I could handle a half! I did a 9 mile run twice in college and I loved it, so 13.1 miles can’t be so bad, right? Plus, it’s the Disney Princess one so I would have the time of my life!
Learn a third language
I have taken French for a year in high school and one semester in college. I took one semester of German and Arabic in college as well. I’ve also tried to study French and American Sign Language on my own. I’m fluent in Spanish and English, but I want to know a third and maybe fourth language!
Own my own horse & compete in a horse show
Before I stopped riding my instructor told me that I was ready to compete in horse shows! I had hoped to compete this summer but since I’m not riding anymore and likely won’t for another few years at least then this won’t happen soon but hopefully someday. Plus I would want to do it on my own horse!
Give a TED Talk
I don’t know exactly what my topic would be, but it’d be fun I’m sure! Actually I used to be very, very frightened of public speaking. I hated it in grade school. Once I got to college though I really came out of my shell and I’m perfectly okay speaking in front of people now. Oh, I’d love to do a Talk at Google as well. I’m not the only one that watches all of those, right?
Win a prestigious prize like a Pulitzer or Nobel
I like getting awards so these would be nice! I’ve been told I’m a great writer so I’d love to win an award for using my writing to make the world a better place.
Become an advocate for a good cause
It’d likely be education or women’s rights. I could also see myself fighting for civil rights as a whole as well. My parents came from Mexico to the USA so I also believe in immigrant rights and since that makes me Hispanic then I’m also a member of a racial minority. There’s a lot I would have to work for! I’d likely also use my writing for this as well but I’ve always been interested in politics so maybe someday I’ll run for office? Channeling Leslie Knope here.
Run for political office & win!
Actually I somehow left this off my initial list despite always wanted to be in politics! It’d break my parent’s hearts because they do not want me in politics at all but I’ve always dreamed of being the first woman President. I’m 9 years away from being eligible to run!
Design fashion, make up, and/or home items
Okay, this one I’m not sure if it’s an Improbable Goal or Actual Goal but seeing as how I already did my Improbable Goals and plus it could be doable, I’m leaving it here. I would definitely need help with this from a proper designer as I can’t draw or sew or anything but this is a dream of mine!
Find my passion
This was the cool thing to do in college, but I never found mine. At least not yet. I don’t think I’ve put enough effort into this one, so that may be why. I do really well when I set goals and work towards them so I know once I find it, I’ll be able to get anything done. 🙂
And there you have it! My Actual Life Goals! When I think of my life goals I think of the Hamilton quote “There’s a million things I haven’t done, but just you wait.” One of my faves!
What are some goals you have for your life? Please share them with me below!
Thanks for reading!
Pamela
I love that Hamilton quote, with enough time, I’m sure these goals are totally doable 😀

Thank you Angela! Yes, that quote is so inspiring to me! That one and the “write like you’re running out of time” quotes as well. 🙂

Thanks! I think it sounds tough but self publishing makes it doable! Just have to write the book first! 😅 Good luck and I hope you are published someday! 🙂

Thank you Jirah! It would really be something special to see your name on a book you wrote, wouldn’t it? I hope we both get to add our books to our libraries and book stores someday! 💖

Yes yes yes! Publish a book one day, I’ll buy it! 😍🙌🏼 and I would love to learn a third language, too, after I get better with Spanish. Probably French, although Italian is a possibility, too.

Awww how sweet of you Maggie!! ☺️ I would love to learn French because I did study it a bit in school. I went to a college class in Italy once and I could follow along with the professor although not all the words. It’s similar in a way but not completely!

That’s cool! Yeah, it is quite similar. I would love to learn about what the similarities and differences are between the two 🙂
