My April Life! – #BirthMay Day 3!

Hi everyone! Sometimes it seems silly to look backward rather than forward, doesn’t it? April was such a good month but I’ve been looking forward to May for so long it seems odd to recap my month. But I also know I love doing that to share a bit of my life with you!

Remember, my Lively month post will be on Friday so all of my active/creative stuff will be on that post. I’m also throwing in my books since I normally do those the Monday before this post but I announced #BirthMay then.

Speaking of, I’m blogging everyday in May and calling it #BirthMay! Why? Because my birthday is in May and I thought it sounded cute!

April was not a boring month for me at all! So here we go!

On April 4th I started the month by voting! Wow my hand looks dark in that photo. Anyway we had some local elections so I googled the people on the ballot (which I found on my city’s website) and made my choices. I mostly vote Democratic but I had a Republican or two thrown in there. I can’t wait to vote against the mayor. He sucks.

When my ballot was counted the guy handed me my sticker and yelled “119!” So I sure do hope everyone else voted early. Local elections usually have terrible turnout though so who knows.

The landscape season has officially started! My dad is a small business owner and while we’ve downsized a lot in recent years we have kept one regular client and take other jobs depending on scheduling. Here’s some photos that show our progress over one of the days we worked and you’ll see the mulch has gone down a lot! We’re busy bees!

Soon after that I was asked to fly out to Houston to work onsite for an event. I said yes immediately and before I knew it my flight and room were booked and I was shopping for comfy shoes!

I had a great time working the event. The people were amazing. I got to meet so many awesome people within my company, from the client, and the temps that worked the event!

My trip was full of both fun and work. I got to relax by the pool, most notably the Texas shaped lazy river. I also received an email from the client when I went back home with a thank you for helping out. And I made many new friends.

Yes, the hours were long but the work was enjoyable and I really liked seeing the results of our work in the office pay off. This was the highlight of my month, and I could go on and on but I did multiple posts on my trip already!

If you missed them, check out my posts on my trip! I’ll link them below.

This month was the first time I went to Six Flags Great America in 2017! I missed the preview weekend since I went to Houston but I did get to go for the special event they held, a Superhero 5k! I’ll go more into detail on my Friday post for the 5k. The park had a few coasters open for the participants so I got to ride a few of them after the run. I missed the park. My mom, sister, and I are all season pass holders so we’re big fans!

Oh and I finally got to see my first musical of 2017!! If you’ve followed me for awhile you’ll know I love theatre productions, to the point that I’ve entered lotteries and attended high school productions to see musicals in interested in.

This month I saw Chicago the musical! I actually saw it in Milwaukee since I missed it when it was in Chicago as I already had tickets to another show that weekend. It was still fun and I really enjoyed it. I’d only ever seen the movie so it was a new experience for me!

And that’s my month! Let me know what you’ve been up to this month in the comments. Also, what are you looking forward to in May?

Thanks for reading!

  2. So interesting that you have an amusement park called Six Flags Great America! We have a Six Flags AND a Great America but I don’t think they’re connected!

  3. Looks like you had a great month, Pamela! Your April was much happier than mine; it was full of lots of doctors appointments and other stressful things like that. BUT my birthday was on the 10th, and I made lots of new blogging friends in April, so there is that! I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to Houston; it looks like an awesome city 😍💙

    • You have such a positive outlook! I know April was rough on your family and I sure hope you have a better May. I saw Baby Elizabeth is walking now!

    • Hahaha my parents were in Georgia and I told my mom to take her season pass in case she had the opportunity to go. 😂 She did not bit it would have been cool! I wish I was able to go to other Six Flags when I travel. We didn’t go to the one in Mexico last year. I know there was one in Texas but I don’t think it’s near Houston and I didn’t have time!
