Hey everyone! So I’ve decided that I need to make healthier choices in life, and while I don’t want to, I started incorporating it into my life.
I haven’t done much to be honest. Mostly changes around food! But slowly and surely I’m moving towards a healthier lifestyle.

At work I used to order food at least once a week for lunch. I’d also snack all day! It was terrible. I’d also stop at Starbucks at least twice a week. Now I only order once every two weeks or so, and usually try to pick something healthy. Usually I’ll take fruit for breakfast and tea from home so I don’t stop at Starbucks and I’ll pack a salad or something homemade for lunch.
I still also take the stairs at work every day. I work on the sixth floor so it’s a bit of a workout? I work an office job so I sit all day and a lot of my hobbies (reading, writing, blogging, YouTube watching) are stationary. I only log around 2,000-3,000 steps per day during the week on my FitBit so while I try to get up to walk around, I often don’t get to as much as I’d like.
Speaking of working out, I try to run at least once a week for half an hour but I can only really do that on weekends so that limits my options. I’m planning to start doing Blogilates workouts (Cassey Ho’s YouTube channel). I used to do those a few years ago but stopped doing that.
I do need to actually do them though because I signed up for a 5k in April. I have to train and be ready!
I also am considering joining a gym or taking fitness classes. I was trying to find adult ballet classes as I took ballet in college but haven’t had much luck finding a studio that has both convenient times and location. I miss ballet but so far it doesn’t look promising.
I’m also looking for a new barn to ride at for my horseback riding lessons. I love Sapphire a ton and I’ll miss her terribly, but I need to find a new place. It was such a good way to work my muscles and gain core and leg strength again. Unfortunately I just don’t feel that I’m learning anything new at my old barn and the instructor wasn’t very professional so I’m in need of a new place.
For the simple things I do try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night and drink tons of water. It doesn’t always work but I do pretty well I think.
And that’s really all I’ve done so far! Small changes haven’t been that hard but I know that it’ll get harder and be worth it in the end!
What do you do to keep healthy? Let me know in the comments if you’d like.
Thanks for reading!
[…] In lieu of riding I had been planning to start swimming. I was a pretty good swimmer in high school, I had worked my way up to the Varsity team and was Team Captain my Senior year, but wasn’t able to continue because the college I picked didn’t have a swim team. I briefly looked into community teams but the only teams I could really find were USA Masters programs with schedules that didn’t really fit mine. For now I am going to table this idea as well but I do plan to look for some sort of physical activity to continue my road to a healthy lifestyle. […]
