Hi everyone! Today will be my evening skin care routine post. Last week I did post my morning skin care routine which you can find here. My nighttime routine is a lot like my morning routine, where I switch out items as I please. I do use a lot more products though, simply because I have much more time in the evening than I do in the morning. There are a lot of products that I only use about once a week but I alternate which days I use products. So here we go!
To start up my routine I use a cleanser to get the day’s make up off my face. I usually use the Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Creme Cleanser. There are times when I’ll sometimes use the Philosophy Purity as well. I then use the Body Shop Aloe Gentle Exfoliator about every other day on my t-zone and about once a week on my whole face. To remove eye makeup I use the Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover on a cotton pad. I find that I generally need to use multiple to get all the makeup off but I don’t really mind since I prefer to take my time removing eye makeup anyway.
After I shower I will use lotion, right now I’m using the Philosophy Loveswept lotion and the Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter. A tub of Avon Skin So Soft body cream is kept on my nightstand just in case I get itchy. I have a strong tendency to scratch, which then leads to me having red scratch lines all over, so I prefer to keep lotion nearby. To be honest, I didn’t purchase this, I was actually given this by a friend when I attended her baby shower. But I really like it because, as the name suggests, it’s very smooth and leaves my skin feeling very soft.
I use two toners. Most days I use the Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner for sensitive skin. When I want to use a stronger toner I use the Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner for combination/oily skin. This toner is too strong for everyday use, at least for me, but I do use it more often when I have more break outs than normal otherwise I mostly only use it about once a week. I’ll also use some of the products I mentioned in my morning routine post as well, such as a mask.
Following the toner I use the Estee Lauder Advanced Time Repair serums, both the regular one and the eye one. I don’t use this everyday either, about once or twice a week. Afterwards I will occasionally use an eye cream. I have a sample size of the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream. I do like it but after I use up this sample I might look for a different eye cream to use. I’m not sure yet so if you have any recommendations please leave them below. I know I have to get into the habit of using the eye cream every day as well, so that’s a goal I’m working towards. (In fact I stopped typing to put it on as I have it next to me to make sure I get the name right when I type it.)
Now for my nighttime moisturizer, I have a ton. I have used the Estee Lauder Advance Time Zone Night for a long time. It’s a really creamy moisturizer and it worked great for me. Recently I bought the Ole Henriksen Nurture Me moisturizer meant for sensitive skin. I really love the smell and texture of this one. I think it smells like sherbet ice cream. It’s really smooth and leaves my skin feeling very fresh.
I’ve also recently been given two Laneige products by my mom. She works in retail for a store that sells this range. Their store was sent multiple testers so that’s why these two have the Try Me stickers on them (they weren’t actually used as testers though). Because they didn’t need multiple ones the store let my mom take them home. I have used the Perfect Renew Emulsion which is actually meant to be a product targeting skin discoloration. I don’t particularly think that’s one of my top concerns but it is also anti-aging, which I do like. Overall I like this moisturizer although I’m not sure I’ll purchase it after I use this up. It is possible though, as I don’t have a lot of anti-aging products. I also have the Water Bank Serum. This is actually a product meant for dry skin, which I don’t actually need then so I might give this back to my mom, who does have dry skin. However I do find that it is very smooth and does keep my skin feeling hydrated.
So that is my evening skin care routine! I know, its a long and complicated journey but I do love having a longer routine. While my morning routine is a sprint to get out the door to get to work, my evening routine is a marathon to wind down and relax before bed. (Sports analogy before the 2016 Olympics in Rio! Only time when I watch sports besides an occasional Barca match.) I sure do hope I’m not forgetting any products and if you’d like feel free to leave any of your routine posts or products you love using as well.
