2015 Skin Care Favorites

Here is my 2015 Skin Care Favorites! To see the make up portion of this post click here.

My skin care routine is pretty simple but just like my make up favorites, I don’t have favorites for every category of product. I’m only including my absolute favorites in these posts.

Perfectly Clean Cleanser, Eye Make Up Remover, Facial Radiance Pads

Cleanser: Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Creme Cleanser

I first received this cleanser with an Estee Lauder gift with purchase set in a mini version. At the time I had plenty of cleansers so I put that one to the side. A while back I received the full size as part of another gift with purchase upgrade promotion and decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did because it is my favorite cleanser of 2015. I like that it takes off my make up easily at the end of the day. If you read my make up favorites, a lot of my time is spent trying to make sure my make up stays on my face. So at the end of the day I do need something that will be powerful enough to get the job done. It does hurt if you get this cleanser in your eyes so you have to be very careful and I opt to use a separate eye make up remover on a cotton pad (more on that later) to take off my mascara but otherwise this product is great!

Eye Make Up Remover: Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Make Up Remover

I switched to this eye make up remover after a few Youtubers recommended it on their channels. I had previously been using the Philosophy eye make up remover but I found that it was too oily for my liking. This one is much better. It removes my mascara very easily and with minimal casualties to my eyelashes. It doesn’t take any intense tugging at all to remove liner either. It just takes a gentle swipe and it does leave the skin around my eyes feeling hydrated and smooth.

Exfoliator: First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

Now, I’m the first to admit that I’m really lazy when it comes to skin care. So it should really be no surprise that I have bought pads that will exfoliate for me! Even so it does feel more wasteful to use individual pads for exfoliating but I do like it a lot. It makes the p]rocess much faster and cleaner. Since I have more sensitive skin I don’t like to use traditional exfoliators because I fear they’re too rough. With these pads I don’t need to worry about it. Also, when I first got this product I worried that it would feel like a waste of money because I thought I would go through the pads too quickly. I haven’t found that to be the case as I’ve had this product for awhile and I still haven’t gone through the pot although I am almost at the bottom. It comes with 60 pads and you only need one for your face and neck. Plus, they don’t dry out easily either. I’m making an effort to use traditional exfoliators as well as these pads but honestly, most nights I just use these.

Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, Aloe Calming Toner

Overnight Mask: Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

As stated above, I’m really lazy when it comes to skin care. I basically only wash my face and that’s it most nights. But in the past few months I’ve made an increased effort to expand my nighttime routine. I only use this product when my skin feels dull though because it really is meant for dry skin and I have combination skin but it is amazing. I always feel really refreshed the morning after I use it and it really brings back the life into the skin. I had jokingly said to the Origins counter sales person once that I would always get bored of waiting for the masks I had been using to harden and wash it off early, defeating the purpose of the masks to begin with. She recommended this one because you specifically don’t need to wash it off and I wish there were more of these types of masks. You do still have to wait a bit of time for the product to absorb but it beats having to scrub off a charcoal mask for me!

Toner: The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner

I had been missing a toner in my skin care routine early last year and decided to try the Body Shop to find one. I had originally bought the seaweed version of the toner and loved it a lot but when I repurchased that one and started to use the new bottle it left a burning sensation on my face. I went back to the store and picked up the Aloe Calming version instead, thinking maybe I just needed to stick to products made for sensitive skin. I like this toner a lot and already have a back up. This product lasts a lot longer than you would think. I have been using it every day for a week thinking each time that it was the last bit of the bottle and I would need to get the new one out for the next day. I still haven’t run out. I feel so much more hydrated after using this product and I am really glad I gave the Body Shop another go after the seaweed toner disaster!

DayWear, Advanced Time Zone Night, Ultra Radiance Facial Re-Hydrating Mist

Moisturizer – Day: Estee Lauder Daywear

For my daytime moisturizer I go with the Estee Lauder Daywear. As a child I never wore sunscreen if I could help it and I regret my choices more with each passing year. Because of this I always pick products with SPF now and the Daywear does contain SPF15. I believe that there is another version that has SPF25 as well. I’m on my second pot of this and I still use it every day. You don’t need a lot so it lasts a long time and I love that it smells lightly of cucumbers. It’s such a refreshing scent that helps me wake up in the morning!

Moisturizer – Night: Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone Night

Estee Lauder is really a brand that I’ve loved since I started to use make up and use higher end skin care so when I needed a nighttime moisturizer I looked at no other brand. I got a sample of this for a previous Estee Lauder purchase and ended up loving it after I went through a few other night moisturizers that I didn’t love. I love that it’s really hydrating but is so lightweight and is absorbed so quickly.  You don’t need too much at one time so it does last awhile and Estee Lauder usually offers gifts with purchases over a set amount quite often so I always try to time my repurchases during those times.

Moisturizer – Spray: Benefit Ultra Radiance Facial Re-Hydrating Mist

I fell in love with this product back when I worked at Macy’s and I would let my buddies who worked in the impulse section do my make up. However, it was never actually in stock at my store. I was always disappointed that Benefit wouldn’t stock it there if they sent bottles of this so that their employees could use it on others and I never got around to buying it online. I did eventually find and buy it at a different Macy’s and it was $26 for a 4.5 oz bottle. I still love this spray and I use it a lot in the winter months when my skin feels particularly dry and on no make up days when I’m just at home and don’t want to use anything with SPF in it. I don’t buy as many Benefit products now and I have a lot of brands that I like a lot more than Benefit but this is one product that I would seriously consider repurchasing when I run out.

Counter Clockwise from top right: Strawberry Body Butter, Satsuma Body Butter, Sweet Roses Milk Soap

Lotion: The Body Shop Strawberry and Satsuma Body Butters

I have two lotion favorites for this year, both the Body Shop. They are the Strawberry and the Satsuma Body Butters. I had the stawberry body butter first which I picked up because strawberries are my favorite fruits. It smelled delightful and I found that the scent was a good incentive to remember to use it as I’m dreadful at remembering to use lotion except in the winter when my skin will get dry spots. I always got compliments when I used it. When I finished the strawberry one I picked up the satsuma version to replace it because of TalkBeckyTalk from YouTube. I like this scent too and it’s just as hydrating as the strawberry but I think I’ll go back to the strawberry once I’ve used this one up.

Soap: Arrow Mattick Sweet Roses

I used to only use shower gels before I found this company and their soaps. I have been using the Sweet Roses Goats Milk soap from Arrow Mattick and I love it. The scent is very light and the company only uses natural ingredients to make it’s products. I already have a back up (mentioned in my last Beauty Haul) in a different scent as the last time I found a booth of theirs (I’ve only ever seen them at booths in different festivals and events in Chicago) they didn’t have the roses soap but now I have their website book marked so I can easily order more whenever I need to. This soap always leaves my skin feeling soft and pampered as well as very hydrating. I’m nearing the end of this bar so I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that my time with this product is ending but I’m excited to try a new Arrow Mattick soap as well!

See By Chloe, Bombshells in Bloom, English Pear & Freesia

Fragrance: See by Chloe – Chloe

See by Chloe is a fragrance that I found after various Youtubers recommended it early last year. I mentioned this back in my November Favorites and I still love it. The notes for this fragrance are listed as Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Vanilla, and Musk. When I smell it I picture myself walking through a princess’ garden. What makes a princess garden smell different than a regular garden? Something in this perfume apparently! It’s a very floral and very fresh as well. It’s pretty much my everyday scent and I really need to invest in the full sized bottle soon.

Fragrance: Bombshells in Bloom – Victoria’s Secret

Sticking on the floral fragrance theme is the Bombshells in Bloom fragrance that I received for my birthday. It has the notes of Pink freesia, red apple and water lily. I like that it lasts a long time on my skin and has a strong scent. I don’t have a very strong sense of smell so I prefer stronger fragrances so I can smell them on myself for longer than five minutes. Also the bottle is insanely beautiful! It’s defintely what I would consider a younger scent but I will still wear it on occasion for a fun day out.

Fragrance: English Pear and Freesia – Jo Malone London

And finally here is my last favorite of 2015. It’s my Jo Malone perfume! I splurged on this fragrance after testing various perfumes from this brand, determined to find one that I liked. I at last tried this one and decided it was the right perfume for me. It’s notes include melon, King William pear, freesia, rose, musk, patchouli, amber, and rhuburb. It’s a very fresh fruity and floral mix and I can smell it for hours after applying. I save this fragrance for very special occasions and I’ve been known to joke that it will someday be my wedding fragrance. I treasure this fragrance and I still keep it in it’s box with the little bow tied around it.

And that’s the end of my 2015 Skin Care Favorites! I’m so excited to see what new products I’ll find in 2016. Thank for reading!
